Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich marvels at Harry Kane’s successful penalty kick streak
In Bayern Munich's 3-0 victory against Augsburg, Harry Kane netted another hat trick, increasing his lead for the Golden Boot over Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush by three goals. This performance follows his four-goal display against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, marking Kane's third hat trick in the Bundesliga this season.
Germany's (and possibly Bayern's) future captain, Joshua Kimmich, expressed his admiration after today's game for Kane's impressive success rate in converting penalty kicks.
“We have complete faith in [Kane] when it comes to taking penalties, and he’s definitely justifying that trust,” Kimmich stated (via @iMiaSanMia). “It might look straightforward from a distance, but it really isn’t. Scoring 25 penalties in a row is truly remarkable.”
Kane's penalty kicks are remarkable not just for their precision, but also for how he outmaneuvers the goalkeepers. Unless the goalie is already down, he tends to aim for the edges or corners of the net. In other situations, he often takes a moment to hesitate, tricking the keeper into guessing a direction before smoothly placing the shot in the opposite corner.
