Fira de Barcelona China two events

Barcelona

Fira de Barcelona is set to introduce two new events in Chengdu and Hangzhou, China, aimed at linking the Asian market with companies from Catalonia and Spain.

Alimentaria Chengdu, scheduled for September 19-20, marks the inaugural Chinese version of Fira de Barcelona’s premier food and drink exhibition. The event will showcase a dedicated exhibition space with 100 companies and organizations, highlighting their latest advancements in food and beverage offerings.

Key features will showcase a culinary competition known as the Smart Taste Global Cook-Off, featuring chefs such as pastry expert Adrián Ramírez. Additionally, there will be a masterclass focused on Spanish olive oils.

The Smart City Expo in Hangzhou, taking place from September 25 to 29, will focus on the growth of developing cities in Asia and the role of new technology in their evolution. Hangzhou, the city hosting the event, serves as a perfect example of this theme. Recently, Alibaba addressed the city's significant traffic issues with its 'City Brain' — an AI system that monitors traffic in real time and manages more than 1,000 traffic lights throughout the city.

The event will feature 200 specialists who will discuss how to create the ideal 'smart city.' Additionally, over 80 companies will showcase their innovations.

Fira de Barcelona currently runs two exhibition centers in China, located in Nanchang and Xuzhou. In 2024, these locations are set to host more than 70 events, such as the 21st China Livestock Exhibition in Nanchang and the third International Construction and Machinery Show in Xuzhou.
