FC Barcelona Officially Confirms Player Transfer

FC Barcelona announced their most recent player signing on Tuesday night through their official website and social media accounts.

FC Barcelona made the announcement of their newest player acquisition through their official website and social media channels on Tuesday evening in Europe.

FC Barcelona and AFC Bournemouth have made a deal for Julian Araujo to move to the English team for a fee of 10 million euros ($10.95 million), according to a brief announcement.

FC Barcelona wants to thank Araujo for his hard work and dedication. They wish him good luck in all his future endeavors.

The Blaugrana gave more details about how Araujo joined them in Catalonia from the MLS team LA Galaxy in February 2023, and became a member of their Barca Atletic reserve team.

The Mexican soccer player from California played for Las Palmas last season on loan, where he was coached by Garcia Pimienta, who used to be the coach of Barcelona B and now manages Sevilla.

Araujo scored two goals in 28 games as a right back, and was selected to join Barcelona's main team for their preseason tour in the United States.

There were thoughts that he could be involved in Hansi Flick's future plans for 2024/2025, but Araujo did not make a good impression on the German coach. La Masia young talents like Hector Fort and Alex Valle stood out instead.

Additionally, Barcelona may be considering purchasing Joao Cancelo from Manchester City to fill in Araujo's spot permanently. Jules Kounde, a center back, has also been known to play in that position, as seen when Didier Deschamps started him in the Qatar 2022 World Cup final against Argentina led by Lionel Messi.

A lot of people thought that Barcelona could have made more money by selling Araujo, especially since he has signed with a team from the wealthy Premier League.

However, Mundo Deportivo highlights that he was initially bought for approximately $4.4 million (€4 million), indicating that there has still been a considerable gain - over two times what Barca spent on him in early 2023 - made on the 23-year-old who primarily served as a substitute player.

Bournemouth announced they are happy to have signed Araujo to a five-year contract, bringing him to England.

"Julian is a player we've been keeping an eye on for some time now," Chief Executive Neill Blake disclosed, noting that he is a "rising star with great promise."

"We are happy to have won over many rivals to secure his commitment ... We think that Julian has the skills needed to improve on his already impressive quality and we are excited to have him join us at Vitality Stadium," Blake stated.

Following a victory against Girona in a friendly match last weekend, Bournemouth will begin their 2024/2025 season with an away game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
