The comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont shared that they will be getting a divorce, putting an end to their nine-year-long marriage.

The couple released a statement announcing that they had come to an amicable decision to divorce and pursue different paths in life.

They said: "Our focus is solely on ensuring our daughter smoothly navigates through this challenging phase. Therefore, we kindly request that our privacy is respected during this delicate moment to safeguard her mental and emotional health.

"We have no additional statement to provide at this time."

Since 2020, the duo has been featured in the mockumentary entitled Meet The Richardsons, where they portray fictionalized versions of themselves.

The pair, who share a child, additionally acted side by side on the program Celebrity Gogglebox.

In 2023, Beaumont received a BAFTA TV award nomination for her splendid performance in the comedy programme Meet The Richardsons, in the best female category.

Nevertheless, during an interview in the previous year, Beaumont declared that the representations they portray onscreen for the program, where they frequently argue, do not mirror their legitimate relationship in reality.

She expressed to the Sunday Post that although she had a positive experience, she noticed comments on social media where individuals seem to be unaware that it is not a real scenario.

"I don't nag him all the time - our relationship wouldn't have survived for so long if I treated him badly in reality."

While describing the show's idea, she stated: "Nobody is interested in watching a conceited couple who are deeply in love, living in a beautiful house, having a secure job, and an adorable child. This kind of content does not attract audiences."

In a different conversation with The Guardian in the previous year, Richardson expressed, "All pairs have disagreements, but we come to a resolution after our arguments."
