Ian Gelder, famous for playing the role of Kevan Lannister in the television show Game Of Thrones, has passed away at the age of 74. The cause of his death was due to bile duct cancer, which he was diagnosed with just five months before.

Throughout his long-lasting profession, the British performer has taken on different parts. He played Mr. Dekker in Torchwood: Children Of Earth and had guest appearances as Charles, the intellectual Librarian in His Dark Materials, and Zellin in Doctor Who.

With immense sorrow and a heart that feels shattered into innumerable pieces, I must bid farewell to my beloved spouse and lifelong companion Ian Gelder. These were the words shared by actor Ben Daniels on his Instagram handle.

I had put a halt to all of my commitments to take care of him. However, we were not prepared for how swiftly everything would happen. He was my unwavering support and we had been in a committed relationship for over three decades.

Even when we were apart, we made sure to communicate with each other daily. He was an individual who exuded kindness, generosity, and love.

Despite his terrible illness, he maintained a brave demeanor without showing any signs of feeling sorry for himself.

"He was quite extraordinary and his absence will be deeply felt."

The image that Daniels presented displayed the couple with happy faces standing in front of a decorated Christmas tree. Daniels also penned these words alongside the picture: "I took this photo during Christmas time, after I was able to discharge him from the hospital. Although he had a tough 3 week stay in there, his happiness and love can still be seen beaming from his face."

Gelder's managers confirmed that he passed away on X. They also shared that he was a delightful person and a talented actor. Those who knew him and worked with him will deeply feel his absence.

Gelder acted the role of Kevan Lannister, the younger brother of Tywin Lannister in the initial season of the Game of Thrones and continued playing the same role in future seasons of the HBO production. Recently, he acted in an episode of the British detective series Father Brown, which airs on BBC One.

Gelder was an unwavering presence in the film and theater industry throughout his profession, and contributed to several iconic works such as The Crucible, The Taming of the Shrew, and The Front Page.
