Johanna Rytting Kaneryd shortlisted for Player of the Month award

Chelsea FC

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd made it to the list of nominees for the Player of the Month award for the Barclays Women's Super League following her excellent performance in helping her team, the Blues, win all games in March.

Our player from Sweden has been playing really well throughout the season and had a great game in March. He scored a goal in our win against Leicester City, where we played away from home.

With Jelena Cankovic's pass, Rytting Kaneryd performed a superb move inside the Leicester box and her shot ended up deflecting into the net, securing our team's third goal in a commendable demonstration of excellence.

Rytting Kaneryd achieved her third goal of the season in the WSL, which is three times more than what she scored last season. Furthermore, she still has five games left to play.

The midfielder from the Blues team played a major role in our win against our rivals for the title, Arsenal. She contributed to setting up the first goal scored by Sjoeke Nusken and even made a strong run and shot that was accidentally deflected in by the same player for our third score of the evening.

Before the season comes to a close, Rytting Kaneryd is currently tied for first place in the WSL assist leaderboard with a total of five assists so far.

Rytting Kaneryd, Elisabeth Terland, Lisa Naalsund, and Adriana Leon are among the nominees for the award. Manchester City's Jess Park and Khadija Shaw are also in the running.

We have the potential to have another player from Sweden win the Player of the Month award this season - although it's worth noting that Lauren James, a fellow teammate, has already won this title twice, in November and January.

The polls for selecting the Player of the Month are now accessible and will end at 10 in the morning on Monday, April 8th.
