Enzo ready to face friend-turned-foe Alvarez

When they were kids, they used to play alongside each other for the River Plate team. During the World Cup, they both stayed in the same accommodation as Argentina celebrated winning the competition for the third occasion. However, now that Chelsea and Man City are facing each other in a match, Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez will both be eager to come out victorious against their ex-teammate.

Alvarez became a part of the River youth system in 2016, where Enzo was already doing well. In a short amount of time, they became close pals and later on, they even played on the same team in River's senior team. Eventually, they decided to embark on a new journey in Europe during the summer of 2022. Alvarez was signed by City while Enzo joined Benfica, and thanks to their impressive performances, they were both included in Argentina's World Cup roster.

The two players played a significant role in helping La Albiceleste win the tournament in Qatar, and now they are proving their worth in English football. Alvarez has secured a spot in Man City’s starting lineup. Therefore, it is highly probable that both of them will play against each other at The Bridge today, rather than as teammates.

Enzo chuckles as he shares, "We've had a brief conversation and we are both aware that it will be a great game."

Our path has been a long one and we've walked it side by side. We began our journey at River, which is where we first crossed paths. As we now find ourselves in the Premier League, widely regarded as the finest league on the planet, it fills us with great pride.

It's fantastic to see the current positions of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The exciting game they're playing will have more to unveil after the regular time, making an already tempting match even more interesting.

"As soon as the match ends, we'll be heading to Argentina to link up with the national squad," Enzo explains.

I am looking forward to achieving a victory!
