The BBC has addressed rumors about what will happen with radio host Zoe Ball, who took a long break from her show after her mom passed away.

Ball's mother, Julie Peckham, received a serious diagnosis of pancreatic cancer earlier this year. In March, the host of BBC Radio 2 shared that she would be taking a break from her morning show to look after her mother.

However, one month afterwards she announced that Peckham had passed away at the age of 74.

Gaby Roslin, who had been filling in for Ball alongside Scott Mills, revealed the news on the radio on April 24th.

Ball, who is 53 years old, made a short comeback to her show on August 8th. She had briefly returned four days earlier, but then Mills began hosting again.

"If you turned on the radio this morning, you'll hear that Scott Mills will be filling in for Zoe for the next few weeks. Sending all my love to Zoe from me and the team," her substitute host shared on August 12th.

Fans started to worry when they saw the online schedule for the show indicating that he would be hosting in place of Ball until September. Some fans suggested that the celebrity might be departing.

Someone mentioned that Scott will be hosting the breakfast show for Zoe again next week. This marks the fifth consecutive week that he has filled in for her. It seems like an official announcement about Scott taking over the breakfast show permanently may be on the horizon.

Yet, the BBC made it clear that she will continue to be the presenter for Radio 2 when speaking to The Independent. They stated, "Zoe will be back on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show at a later date this month."

Fans were thrilled by the announcement, expressing their excitement by stating, "I'm delighted that she's coming back. We missed her, but everyone deserves time off. She will be greeted warmly by her friends, coworkers, and many members of the public, myself included. I absolutely love her."

On her social media, Ball posted a heartfelt message honoring her mother back in April. She expressed gratitude for her mother's lessons on love, courage, and empathy, as well as the importance of finding joy in difficult times. Despite feeling lost without her, Ball emphasized the importance of staying close as a family.
