Andy Murray has decided to pull out of the singles competition at Wimbledon on Tuesday morning. Instead, he will be ending his time at SW19 by playing in the doubles event with his brother Jamie.

Murray was set to play against Tomas Machac tonight, but the two-time champion revealed on Tuesday morning that he will not be able to compete. This is because he has not fully recovered from a surgery on a spinal cyst that he had just 10 days ago.

According to Murray's team, he has made the tough choice not to play in the singles event this year, despite his dedicated efforts in recovery since his recent surgery. Although he is disappointed, Murray will still be participating in the doubles with his brother Jamie, and is excited to compete in Wimbledon one final time.

Andy Murray's match on Centre Court will be substituted with British top player Jack Draper's match against qualifier Elias Ymer. In a busy second day of the competition, 11 British players will be competing, including Katie Boulter, who is the top-ranked woman and man. Boulter and Draper are both seeded for the first time, with Boulter going up against former semi-finalist Tatjana Maria.

The current women's champion, Marketa Vondrousova, will start the second day of matches on Centre Court. Following her, Novak Djokovic will begin his quest for an eighth title after losing in a thrilling final last year. The top-ranked player in the world, Iga Swiatek, will also start her campaign against former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in a rematch of the 2020 French Open final.
