The History of Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors, also known as Wigan RLFC, is an English professional rugby league club based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club was founded in 1872 as Wigan Football Club and has been playing rugby league since 1895. They are one of the most successful clubs in the history of the sport, having won a record 22 League Championships, 19 Challenge Cups and 4 World Club Challenges. In addition, they have produced many great players over the years, such as Billy Boston and Shaun Edwards, who have gone on to play for their national teams.

The Present Day Wigan Warriors

Today, Wigan Warriors play their home games at the DW Stadium, which they share with the Wigan Athletic football club. The team is coached by Adrian Lam and captained by Sean O'Loughlin. In recent years, the team has continued to be successful, winning the Super League Grand Final in 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2018. Additionally, they have remained a strong development club, producing young talent such as George Williams and Oliver Gildart, who have both gone on to represent their countries. Wigan Warriors are a beloved team with a passionate fanbase, and their success on the pitch has earned them a special place in rugby league history.
