The singer and television presenter had the privilege of honoring the legendary artist during the 50th-anniversary celebration of the American Music Awards on the evening of October 6. Following an impressive video tribute highlighting Houston's accomplishments at the AMAs and a fantastic introduction by Samuel L. Jackson, Hudson took to the stage and kicked off her performance with "I Loves You Porgy," a song performed by Houston at the 1994 AMAs. She concluded her set with her own version of Houston's classic "I Will Always Love You."

This marks the third occasion where Hudson has honored "The Voice" in her professional journey. The EGOT winner first celebrated Houston by singing one of her well-known songs at the 2010 BET Honors, where Houston was present in the audience. Two years later, Hudson gave an emotional tribute to Houston during the 54th Grammy Awards, just a day after the legendary artist passed away in 2012. Each time, Hudson poured her heart into performing "I Will Always Love You".
