Cullen Scores Twice as Wales Boosts Their Standing in the Top Tier

Liam Cullen shined as the standout player by scoring twice, helping Wales overcome a deficit to defeat Iceland 4-1 and earn a spot in the top level of the UEFA Nations League.

As they approached the last match, Craig Bellamy's team understood that a victory, combined with Turkey losing points, would guarantee promotion for the home team tonight, helping them steer clear of a play-off situation.

It wasn’t easy for them, as they had to fight their way back after falling behind. Andri Gudjohnsen, the son of Eidur, put Age Hareide’s team ahead just eight minutes into the game with a clever shot that went right through Danny Ward's legs. This came after the Leicester City keeper made an impressive save against Orri Oskarsson.

Wales equalized shortly after the half-hour mark when Cullen made a clever run and skillfully directed a header into the far corner from Brennan Johnson's curling cross. Just before half-time, he scored again by sliding in to tap in the rebound after Dan James had his shot blocked by Rafin Valdirmarsson, following some great teamwork from Mark Harris.

Tottenham Hotspur's on-fire Johnson added the third goal after 65 minutes, thanks to a fantastic assist from Cullen, who delivered a perfectly timed pass to the winger, who completed the finish with great skill.

Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson continued his impressive club performance while playing for the national team, scoring the fourth goal for the hosts with an amazing shot from outside the box. This goal was set up by Cullen, who demonstrated great effort to control a long pass from Ward while fending off Iceland defender Sverrir Ingason.

Wales put forth their best effort to achieve promotion, and fortune smiled upon them when Montenegro defeated Turkey 3-1 in another match. This result crowned the Dragons as the winners of their group and sent Turkey into the play-offs.
