BBC Cymru Wales to show all of Wales Women’s Euro 2025 Qualifiers
The news about BBC Cymru Wales streaming live footage of every one of Wales' Euro 2025 qualifying games proves our promise to support the women's national football team.
The upcoming matches are significant because Rhian Wilkinson, a former Canadian international, will be making her debut as the coach for the Wales team.
On Friday 5 April, Wales will start their campaign by hosting Croatia in the oldest international stadium in the world, STōK Cae Ras in Wrexham. The game will be broadcasted live on Match of the Day Wales on BBC One Wales from 7 pm (with a 7:15 pm kick-off time). Catrin Heledd will be the presenter, and she will be accompanied by former Welsh players Nia Jones and Katie Sherwood in the studio.
Afterwards, the team will journey to Kosovo for their second match of the season within four days. BBC Two Wales will air the game live from Podujevo on Match of the Day Wales, starting at 12:45pm and with kick off at 1pm.
The final group match for Ukraine is set to take place on Friday, May 31st, with Wales as the hosting team. Two of Wales' upcoming home matches against Ukraine and Kosovo on Tuesday, July 16th will be held at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli. This venue had already been utilized by Wales for the Women's World Cup Qualifiers in 2019.
Rhuanedd Richards, the Director of BBC Cymru Wales, expressed her excitement over the announcement that BBC Cymru Wales will broadcast each of Wales’ Euro 2025 qualifying games live. She emphasized the commitment of BBC Cymru Wales to the women's national football team and is thrilled to provide full coverage of their journey towards the Euros. Richards is eager to follow the team as they begin their campaign in Wrexham and explore the leadership of Rhian Wilkinson, the new coach, and her squad as they aim for a successful qualification.
Rhian Wilkinson is the current head coach of Wales, replacing Gemma Grainger who left the position back in January. She has a successful background in sports and has played more than 180 games for Canada, winning two Olympic bronze medals in 2012 and 2016. Before being given the Wales coaching role, she was already a respected head coach, leading Portland Thorns to win the championship in 2022.
