Victoria Starmer

It's a new era! After 14 years of Conservative rule, Britain has a new government led by Labour and Sir Keir Starmer. But who is Victoria Alexander, the wife of the new Prime Minister who has mostly stayed out of the spotlight as her husband rose to prominence?

Up to now, Victoria has only shown herself in public a few times – like when she went to Wimbledon (and sat one row behind Kate Middleton), attended some Labour events, or went with Keir to Buckingham Palace for a State Banquet. But this might be about to change.

However, what information do we have about Victoria and what is her current occupation, now that she no longer works as a solicitor and was seen going to the voting booths with her husband yesterday?

Let's dig deeper. Here's everything you need to know about Lady Victoria Starmer...

Meet Keir Starmer's Wife, Victoria Alexander

Since she is married to a knight (yes, the new PM was given the title of 'Sir' due to his previous work as a human rights lawyer and prosecutor), Victoria is essentially the main woman of 10 Downing Street in a way - she could technically call herself Lady Starmer if she wanted to. But she comes across as very approachable and humble, so it's unlikely that she would choose to use that title.

Victoria, sometimes called 'Vic' by the Prime Minister, tied the knot with Keir in 2007. They first crossed paths while collaborating on a case in the early 2000s. According to the tale, Keir was determined to find out who was accountable for a set of documents and verify their correctness. When he discovered Victoria was the person to talk to, he contacted her to have a conversation about it.

After the intense conversation, Victoria was not aware that the call was still connected. She turned to a coworker and expressed her frustration, not realizing Keir could still hear her. Surprisingly, this only piqued Keir's interest further. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Regarding Victoria's personal background, she was brought up in Gospel Oak, London, by Polish-Jewish immigrants. Her mother, who was a doctor, converted to the Jewish faith after marrying her father, who was an economics lecturer. Victoria and her sister were raised with some Jewish traditions, like Friday night prayers, as mentioned by Keir in an interview with the Jewish Chronicle.

A writer who wrote an article for The Independent and claims to live near the Starmers, described Victoria as well-liked by the "Kentish Town mom group (who believe she is 'cool', 'funny', 'relatable', and 'one of us')".

In a recent interview, Keir mentioned that Victoria would have rather he remain working as a lawyer instead of transitioning into politics. She believed it would be more stable to have a good salary as a lawyer without facing the difficulties that come with being a politician.

The Starmers visited Buckingham Palace just a few weeks ago.

Is Victoria Starmer Employed By The NHS?

She works as an occupational health therapist, which the PM mentioned many times during his campaign. Victoria has stayed out of the spotlight and seems content to let her husband handle the politics. It is anticipated that she will carry on with her job as normal.

In the midst of the pandemic, Keir and Victoria were seen standing outside their house clapping for the NHS and showing their support for essential workers as well.

Are Keir And Victoria Starmer Parents?

Absolutely! The pair have a son who is 16 years old and a daughter who is 13 years old, both of whom have never been mentioned or shown in public before. Keir has emphasized the significance of maintaining a sense of normalcy in their lives on several occasions.

He has shared some interesting stories about his kids before and how they help him stay grounded as well.

"They provide me with a great balance of support and keeping me grounded all the time," the Prime Minister shared during an interview on the Table Manners podcast. "I received The Spectator Politician of the Year Award last year and they gave me a framed certificate. I brought it home around 10 o'clock at night, and our son was lounging on the couch with his feet up watching TV. I showed him the certificate and asked 'What do you think of this?' He glanced at it, still focused on the TV, handed it back to me and casually asked 'How did you manage to get this?'. It was truly wonderful!"

Later on, he went on to say, "As soon as I step inside, my main role is being a father and I really enjoy that."
