The people of Britain have chosen a new government, which means a new family will soon be living in 10 Downing Street.

In contrast to certain other nations like the US, in the UK, when a new prime minister takes office, they quickly shift into their new responsibilities and residence.

This means that Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, will not only be moving into his new home near the Houses of Parliament, but also his wife, Victoria, and their two teenage children will be joining him.

Who exactly is Victoria Starmer, and what information do we have about the new residents of 10 Downing Street?

Starmer's wife, who he often calls Vic, didn't garner much attention during the election campaign.

Both individuals are trained in law and got married in 2007, just before Starmer took on the role of Director of Public Prosecutions.

Their bond blossomed from an unexpected initial encounter in the workplace, as revealed by the Labour leader in an interview with Piers Morgan in 2021.

As a lawyer getting ready for a trial, he needed to talk to the attorney who had created the legal papers for the case. That attorney happened to be Victoria.

He inquired about their honesty, and after the discussion ended, he overheard her exclaim, "Who does he think he is?" before abruptly ending the call. He told Morgan that he continued to pursue her for months afterward, and they have been in a relationship ever since.

"Vic is lovely, she is down-to-earth, we have similar beliefs and we enjoy laughing together," Starmer stated.

Victoria, whose family practices the Jewish faith, currently holds a position in occupational health at the National Health Service (NHS).

He shared with The Guardian recently that half of his family is Jewish, with some living here and others in Israel. He also mentioned that he and his wife are eager for their children to learn about their cultural background.

In the meantime, the leader of the country has addressed the worries that his children have raised regarding the relocation of their home.

They are afraid that their lives might be altered, which is why we will vigorously safeguard their privacy.

Starmer is so committed that he often mentions them in interviews as "my son" and "my daughter."

"We made a choice to always keep the children safe and private. That's why we don't have any photo shoots with them and we don't share their names in public," he explained during an interview on the British TV show "This Morning" on ITV.

Starmer expressed to The Guardian that he understands the impact his job has on his family, stating that he is very mindful of how it affects his children during these important years of their development. He mentioned that he strives to maintain a sense of normalcy and stability in their lives as much as possible.

At the beginning of this year, supporters of Palestine held a protest outside the residence of the family in Kentish Town, located in north London. During the demonstration, they displayed a large banner stating "Starmer, please end the violence" and placed lines of kids' footwear as a symbol.

The Starmers' primary goal, as he shared on "This Morning," is for their children to feel joyful and self-assured.

He acknowledged that a new member of the family may be needed, as his children are expected to increase their efforts to convince him to get a dog if they move to Downing Street.
