Fox Launches Free Ad-Supported UK TV Streaming Service Tubi

Tubi

It is likely that many internet users in the UK did not think this morning about adding another streaming platform to the already crowded video content market. However, Rupert Murdoch's Fox Corporation has just introduced Tubi, which is free.

The website has been in North America for some time and has 80 million active users. Unlike other streaming services that require payment, Tubi is free and supported by advertisements. This means you may have to watch commercials while enjoying one of their 20,000+ movies and TV episodes on-demand, which includes a few original shows created specifically for Tubi.

The blog features content from popular entertainment companies like Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, as well as a variety of "modern British classics" and famous UK TV series. It also explores new territories of entertainment including Bollywood, Nollywood, and Arthouse Cinema.

Fox says that in the next few weeks, Tubi will be accessible for UK viewers on various platforms such as connected TVs, iOS and Android smartphones, and the internet as a free app. However, you can currently visit the Tubi website and watch content without having to sign up for an account, which is convenient.

Anjali Sud, the Chief Executive Officer of Tubi, stated:

Tubi has been perfecting our strategy for providing extensive, free, and enjoyable streaming services in North America for the past ten years. We believe that the time is right to introduce this approach to audiences in the UK. Our launch in the UK includes one of the most extensive and varied collections of content designed to cater to viewers' interests, whether it be blockbuster movies, original stories, or hidden gems. Our priority is to listen to the preferences of UK fans and continue to offer more of what they enjoy.

Tubi's website offers a range of movies from the Twilight saga and less well-known or popular titles. The Sci-Fi section is great for B-Movie enthusiasts. If you're willing to explore further, you'll find a lot of content, including some hidden gems.

When it comes to the platform's internet needs, you should have a minimum download speed of 1Mbps, but the best recommended connection is 4Mbps. After testing, it was found that most video quality options go up to 720p, but it's uncertain if it will go any higher. Despite having a lower bitrate, the video quality still appeared to be decent during our testing. Remember, since it's a free service, don't expect perfection.
