How will the train strikes affect your journey this week?

Train strikes

Train passengers should prepare for inconvenience during their future trips as a ban on working overtime for nine days has begun today.

The Great Western Railway intends to provide a service that is almost ordinary until this Saturday (January 3), but you might experience sudden modifications and cancellations without prior notification.

Starting tomorrow (January 30), Aslef union members will begin their industrial action, which will continue in a series of strikes until February 5th. These strikes will be rolling in nature.

On Sunday February 4th and Monday February 5th, it is anticipated that there will be significant interruptions when several areas of the GWR system will only have a few or no trains operating.

Complete stoppage of work will have a considerable impact on the GWR services on Monday, February 5th.

Clients have been suggested to alter their travel plans to different days due to a limited schedule that will be running, with several areas of the GWR network completely without service.

There will be disturbances until 6th February, and the early services of the day might be modified, with some of them even being canceled beforehand.

Great Western Railway is advising passengers who plan to travel during this time to make sure they take a look at the details for their departure and return trips before setting off.

If GWR operates in certain areas, it is anticipated that there will be a significant number of passengers, and there won't be any bus replacement services offered.

As of now, there are no upcoming strikes scheduled for the London Underground or the Elizabeth line services.

To assist patrons during times of strikes, their tickets will be honored for travel on alternate days on GWR services as outlined:

The tickets that are available to use from Tuesday, January 30th to Monday, February 5th can now be used starting on Monday, January 29th and extending to Wednesday, February 7th.

The internet travel scheduling tools are being refreshed. Kindly ensure to visit www.gwr.com/strike to access the most recent information available.
