Eddie Howe makes public his ambitions with Newcastle United ahead of 3 year anniversary
In just six days, it will mark three years since Eddie Howe joined Newcastle United.
On November 8, 2021, a new individual began the challenging task of addressing the aftermath caused by Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce.
The rest, as they often put it, is a matter of record.
More specifically, the almost three-year period at the beginning of his tenure with Newcastle United.
Today's match at home against Arsenal will mark the end of the initial three years of scheduled games.
Eddie Howe has been expressing his aspirations and goals to build upon this achievement.
Eddie Howe discussing with TNT Sports:
In my opinion, evaluating situations like this can be challenging, but achieving qualification for the Champions League in his first complete season was definitely ahead of what was expected.
“At the beginning of the season, I believe that very few people would have believed we could secure a top-four finish.”
"I believe the players we brought in during the summer of 2022 were crucial. Our confidence increased, and we were able to achieve our goals rightfully."
“We reflect on the 4-1 victory over PSG as a memorable match – considering our performance, the way we executed our game, and what we achieved together.”
I believe the annoyance stems from our desire to return to that place.
"After you experience it, you'll crave even more. That’s a wonderful driving force for everyone."
Every now and then, I find myself reflecting on the match [1-1 against PSG away], as it was quite a challenging experience.
"We were positioned in our own half throughout the match and defended incredibly well, almost like true heroes. That's why the surprising late penalty decision felt unfair to me. I honestly believed we had earned a positive outcome."
“That's the standard we aim to achieve.”
We thoroughly enjoyed the Champions League experience, from the matches to the travel and the additional games.
“We all deeply desired that outcome. For everyone participating in those games, it fueled our determination even more.”
Eddie Howe inquired whether participating in European competitions is the least that can be expected from a club like Newcastle.
“Absolutely, I believe that’s the case.”
"I find it particularly annoying how we lost our chance to compete in Europe last season."
"We didn't have complete control over how we ended up missing out."
"When I first arrived, I understood the weight of the role of managing Newcastle United."
I’ve always understood just how vital this position is for the city and everyone involved with the club.
“I absolutely love it and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.”
“I’m yearning for achievement.”
"We absolutely cherished our time in the Champions League... It has motivated us more than anything to make a strong effort to return." ????
