The streaming platform Disney+ is still trying to find a successful original series, and they have decided not to continue with a second season of The Acolyte. This show, also known as Star Wars: The Acolyte, took place at the end of the High Republic era in the Star Wars universe, around 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

Called a mystery-thriller, The Acolyte brought viewers into a space filled with hidden secrets and growing dark powers in the last days of that time. In the show, a previous Jedi apprentice met up with her Jedi teacher to look into a string of crimes, but the enemies they faced were even more wicked than they had imagined.

The actors who appeared in the cast were Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Jodie Turner-SMith, Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Sith, Dean-Charles-Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, Margarita Levieva, Harry Trevaldwyn, and David Harewood.

The Acolyte started strong with two episodes on June 4, attracting 4.8 million viewers on its first day. But after the initial success, viewers quickly lost interest. A total of eight episodes were made. The final episode of The Acolyte aired on July 16, marking the end of the series.

The Mandalorian, a show made by Disney+ that started in 2019, will be coming back for more episodes.
