Projectionist the UK Terrifier 3 premiere reveals audience's reaction

Terrifier 3

This week, the UK saw the debut of the film touted as the "most terrifying ever," and it left certain viewers feeling deeply unsettled.

At the VUE Leicester Square, eleven individuals left the screening of the latest installment of the Terrifier series, with one person reportedly being sick within just ten minutes of the film starting.

The movie starts with a horrific scene where a family is violently killed in several savage ways by the sinister character known as Art The Clown.

A projectionist who was seated in the front row mentioned that he wasn’t shocked to see audience members rushing out in fear during the premiere.

Today, MailOnline took to the streets of London to gauge the reactions of movie enthusiasts to the horror film directed by Damien Leone.

Rania, a 48-year-old from Lebanon, requested that our reporter stop the preview of the startling film just a few seconds in.

Diedre from Banbury (pictured) was among a number of individuals MailOnline approached for their thoughts on the gruesome film's trailer. She commented that it was "far from enjoyable."

"I must admit, it's really unattractive. It fails to communicate anything meaningful and instead creates a very negative atmosphere. Honestly, I would feel terrible afterward if I were to see it," Rania (shown in the photo) expressed.

Terrifier 3 debuted in the UK this week, and it has already shocked some fans with its intense violence and graphic scenes.

"I struggled to finish the notebook, so I doubt I could get through even five minutes of that," Thalha (shown in the picture) added.

She shared with MailOnline, "I really dislike horror films, and for me, it’s just not doable—I can’t bring myself to watch them."

I have to admit it's quite unattractive. It fails to communicate anything meaningful and actually leaves a really negative impression. I would feel pretty terrible after seeing it.

Films are designed to stretch our creativity and immerse us in experiences. However, after witnessing what I just did, my reaction is a clear no; I don't wish to be involved in that.

Dierdre, a woman in her sixties from Bambury, also found the graphic trailer too intense to watch, describing it as 'quite unpleasant'.

"I really wouldn't watch that. I'm not a fan of masks and clowns, which seems to be what it's about. It's just not my thing," she mentioned.

25-year-old Thalha joked, "Wow, that's actually wild! I can't pretend that's not a bit frightening."

It's pretty gruesome, so I don't plan on watching it. I feel like I've had my fill.

I struggled to get through the notebook, so I doubt I could last even five minutes with that.

However, not everyone opposed the idea of watching the latest horror sequel that captivated Leicester Square last night. Many were determined to sit through the film, which runs for two hours and five minutes.

Joe Nayquonabe, 42, who is visiting from Minnesota, USA, expressed, "It was a bit unsettling for me."

It can be a bit jarring since you're getting into the festive spirit of Christmas, and then suddenly it turns into something frightening.

On the flip side, fans of horror were eagerly anticipating the violent mischief of Art the killer clown, and Nelly (shown in the picture) has added it to her watchlist for the New Year.

"I might end up feeling ill, but I'd probably hang around just to find out what happens next," Joe joked, still in shock from the shocking trailer.

Lauri, who claims to have a strong stomach, really enjoyed the blend of Christmas and Halloween, but wouldn't choose it for a movie date.

“To be completely honest, it really terrified me,” he said. “Seeing all that blood and the madness happening around me was a whole new level of fear.”

Upon realizing it was the third installment, I thought, "Uh oh, now I need to check out the first two to understand what's going on."

Feeling pretty sure he could handle the wild antics of the shocking horror film Clown Art, he remarked, "I might end up feeling queasy. But I'd stay to see what unfolds, you know?"

Nelly, 30, from Georgia, admitted that she found a new movie to check out on New Year's Eve after seeing a preview of the sequel.

"I'm a big fan of horror films, and I've found a new one that I'm planning to watch on New Year's Eve. I really enjoyed it, and I think it's going to be an awesome experience," she shared.

The person who claims to be a 'fan of horror films' commented, "It brought to mind other scary movies such as The Conjuring, Annabelle, IT, and similar titles."

"I believe it will be exciting and fascinating to blend these elements."

Lauri Richardson, 27, humorously remarked, "I didn't see an evil Santa coming; it's almost like a Santa who eats people! I really enjoy the mix of Halloween and Christmas. I think it’s quite fun to look at."

Vue projectionist Joel (as seen in the picture) shared that the audience reacted with lots of 'groans and gasps,' and many people left the theater during the recent premiere of Terrifier 3.

The movie premiered in the UK earlier this week at the Vue cinema in London, where bold viewers were given sick bags.

When she was questioned about her courage to get through Terrifier 3, she assuredly felt she could handle it, though she wouldn't pick it as a preferred option for a movie date.

"He would lose his mind, and I’d likely end up with someone else," she joked.

Several movie theaters have displayed warning signs advising audiences about the 'intense violence and graphic content' in Terrifier 3. They have also ensured that 'staff with first aid training' are available to assist anyone who may start to feel 'unwell' while watching the film.

Joel, a 33-year-old projectionist and AV technician, attended the UK premiere of Terrifier 3. He commented that the opening scene was quite intense for many viewers. He even shared a light-hearted moment when he jokingly handed a customer a sick bag, only to find out they actually needed it.

He shared with MailOnline: "I didn’t witness the walkouts myself, but I heard they occurred — I believe there were nine in total."

Typically, they hand out a tote bag with the poster inside, but this time they opted for a sick bag as a playful twist. Surprisingly, someone actually ended up needing to use it.

I didn't actually witness anyone get sick, but I noticed many people cringing and turning away in disgust.

He went on to say, "I believe many people were present because they genuinely wanted to be."

They were already enthusiastic supporters, so they were thrilled about it. However, I believe some individuals were pleasantly surprised by what they experienced.

Certain movie theaters have displayed alert signs to inform audiences about the 'intense violence and graphic content'.

The director of the film, Damien Leone, along with Samantha Scaffidi and George Steuber, was present at the UK premiere of Terrifier 3 held at Vue Leicester Square on October 2.

The Terrifier series follows the tale of Art the Clown, a sinister murderer who instills fear in the people of Miles County, New York.

Director Damien Leone stated that he has 'personally' seen 'some wild things' at the UK premiere.

According to reports, 11 individuals left a recent showing at Vue in Leicester Square, and one unfortunate viewer even became sick.

"That was terrifying, but I really enjoyed it," said one stunned fan after watching the movie for the first time. "I'm still a bit shaken up."

The third installment of the horror series takes place during the Christmas season.

It's a lot of entertaining chaos; I enjoyed that kind of thing when I was younger, but it's not for everyone.

When he was asked whether he believed that many viewers could last through the whole movie, he replied, “Probably not. It gets quite extreme and gory at times, but it’s entertaining in a way.”

It's a bit of a playful nod to its exaggerated nature; it leans more towards being gruesome than actually frightening, while still having a good time with the whole concept.

The opening scene was quite intense for viewers, and the director acknowledged this, noting that it felt even more shocking than the bloodier moments.

Terrifier 2 unexpectedly became a huge hit at the box office in 2022, earning more than $15 million despite having a very small budget of just $250,000.

The franchise follows the tale of Art The Clown, a malevolent murderer who brings fear to the people living in Miles County, New York.

In the third movie, Art embarks on a violent spree during the Christmas season.

It seems there's a scene that is so terrifying that David Howard Thornton, the actor who portrays Art, almost got sick while they were filming it.

The initial Terrifier, produced on a modest budget of only $60,000, hit the theaters in 2016.

The film exploded in popularity right after it came out, largely because of one especially gruesome death scene where a character is brutally attacked with a hacksaw.
