The performer had a part in Gary Oldman's first film as a director in 1997, playing the character of Danny. However, they gained more recognition for their portrayal of Plank in Guy Ritchie's movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998.

Burke shared with her X/Twitter followers last Thursday (20 June) that she received upsetting news about the passing of UK actor and longtime friend, Steve Sweeney.

He excelled in numerous stage and movie works like Lock Stock & Nil By Mouth, and he was greatly admired by the talented director Alan Clarke.

She ended the blog post by saying: "Once you meet him, you'll never forget him. Rest in peace, friend." The reason for Sweeney's death is still unclear.

In addition to his roles in Nil By Mouth and Lock, Stock, Sweeney also appeared in filmmaker Jasmin Dizdar's movie Beautiful People as well as British television shows such as The Bill, Dalziel and Pascoe, and Murphy's Law.

He also appeared in various stage shows, a TV movie in 1982 called Made in Britain, and the 1983 series Nanny, where he portrayed the character of Frank Halley.

Sweeney also had a role on the TV show EastEnders in 1993, portraying two minor characters named "Snip" Gibbons and Clive.

His most recent work can be seen in the comedy movie The Greatest Beer Run Ever, starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe, which was released in 2022.

Throughout his career, Sweeney has experience working behind the scenes as a producer and casting director. In Lock Stock, his character meets a tragic end after being fatally shot by Rory Breaker, played by Vas Blackwood.

Many people have left messages in Burke's comments, paying tribute to Sweeney.

"I feel terrible, it's such a tragedy that he passed away. He was such a talented actor and it's a shame he left us too soon," one follower commented, while another said: "I will never forget his role as Plank, but he was amazing in all of his movies. Rest in peace to a truly talented actor."

Another follower commented: "I feel for you Kathy. It's truly heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to his loved ones. I also admired his talent as an actor."
