In the 18th over, South Africa is at 141-4 with Miller scoring 31 runs and Stubbs scoring 8. Miller hits a fantastic six off Archer, showing some skill in the difficult conditions. Stubbs, on the other hand, struggles and almost gets hit in the head as he attempts a risky shot. The over only yields eight runs, making it a win for England despite the six from Miller. This sets England up well to chase the achievable target set by South Africa.

Darryl Accone from South Africa (do you catch the political jab?) doesn't think highly of Wood. Is it too harsh or is it a fair assessment?

It's about time we recognize that Mark Woods's occasional ability to bowl fast in short bursts is not as valuable as his lack of stamina, history of injuries, and inaccurate reputation as a top bowler. He's always one step away from a breakdown.

17th over: The score is at 133-4 with Miller on 24 and Stubbs on 7. Topley comes back into the game and continues his good form. Other than one wide ball, he is bowling accurately and only allows four singles. By varying his deliveries and keeping the batters guessing, he shows how to restrict aggressive scoring.

Beau Dure has been experiencing some challenges.

They sent this message before taking a lot of wickets.

While observing the bowlers from England today, I am curious if the batters from the USA are considering if they should aim to score 75 runs aggressively during the power play against England or play it safe and aim for a guaranteed 60 runs.

And after that, the pendulum started to sway.

Update: After observing the bowlers from England, it seems like the USA team will have to score as many runs as possible in the power play and then try to defend their position as much as they can.

In the 16th over, South Africa scored 128 runs with Miller reaching 22 and Stubbs at 5. This over was a turning point for South Africa as they scored 13 runs off Wood. Miller hit two fours, one through midwicket and another with a neat pull shot. Stubbs also contributed with a boundary, flicking the ball off his hips.

Buttler has been outstanding. Inglis Michael is eager to express his admiration.

Michael from New York is impressed by Butler's wicketkeeping skills. Despite a penalty for time, he initially thought Salt should take over the position. However, Butler's catch and runout were exceptional. Michael is rooting for England.

I want to mention that I have received a lot of messages from individuals in the United States. I cannot confirm if they are American, but regardless of their nationality, this is a fantastic development.

15th over: South Africa's score is 115-4 with Miller on 13 and Stubbs on 1. Adil Rashid finishes his four overs with impressive figures of 1-20. His performance was exceptional and he was the one who changed the course of the game. Miller manages to hit a boundary with a reverse sweep, but Rashid dominates the over by taking a deserved wicket. After conceding 10 runs per over in the powerplay, South Africa's run rate has now dropped to less than six.

Adam Roberts has contributed an article:

Hello Daniel, Hello everyone,

Given two factors:

1) I had to turn down the volume on the TV last night while watching the Australia versus Bangladesh game because the music was too loud.

2) Referee's reassessment - Michael Gough's call was reversed! This unexpected change should have been more widely discussed and analyzed by Guardian journalists, shouldn't it?

Markram Out For 1, Rashid Gets Wicket: South Africa 113-4

Continuing on, Rashid made a comeback in bowling and pitched the ball outside the off stump, prompting Markram to play aggressively. The South African captain lost his composure and had to stretch to reach the ball at the last moment, causing it to hit the stumps. This bowling switch proved successful as another wicket fell promptly. Buttler is performing well in this game.

14th over: South Africa 107-3 (Miller 7, Markram 0) England continues to perform well in this over. Initially, it seemed like South Africa could reach a score of 200 or more, but now it looks like they may struggle to even get to 160. Wood is showing great determination and aggression after his earlier mistake. Despite a couple of wides, Klaasen is run out in this over. Wood also manages to find the edge of Miller's bat, but the ball has enough pace to reach the boundary despite Topley's diving attempt to stop it.

Klaase Dismisses Buttler For 8, SA 102-3

What a mess! It was a terrible delivery from Wood, way outside the leg side. Klaasen glances as the ball hits off Buttler's pads and starts running after Miller calls for a quick single. Buttler quickly grabs the ball and throws it directly to the stumps from a distance. Miller throws his bat in frustration, realizing he has caused his own teammate to get out.

England deserves the credit, but South Africa has been quite disappointing following their impressive beginning.

South Africa have scored with a run rate of less than one run per ball since the Powerplay.

13th over: South Africa is at 98-2 with Klaasen on 8 and Miller on 1. Klaasen managed to survive the over after hitting a strong four at the start. Curran bowled well and almost took a wicket, but the umpire's review saved Klaasen. The rest of the over was well bowled by the Englishman, giving away only two singles in the final five balls. South Africa is behind and in need of a big change in momentum.

Umpire decides Klaasen stays on despite a close call. He's fortunate. The ball almost hit the stumps, but he managed to just avoid it. England is dominating South Africa at the moment.

There is a recap of the lbw decision. Klaasen moved to the side to hit Curran towards the leg side. In my opinion, this is definitely out.

In the 12th over, South Africa is at 92-2 with Klaasen scoring 3 and Miller yet to score. England has managed to turn the tables and are now in a dominant position. The last over was cost-effective, giving away just three runs, with the important wicket of de Kock taken. It appears that the strategy is to use slower balls and cutters rather than fast deliveries. Miller is now at the crease forming a potentially powerful partnership, but they need to pick up the pace to set a competitive target.

De Kock Out For 65, South Africa 92-2

What an amazing catch! Buttler made a fantastic one-handed catch. Archer, who is now bowling again, is changing up his strategy by using slower balls and cutters. This change has been successful. De Kock attempted to hit a shot over short third, but he only managed to get a thick edge on the ball. The ball flew in the direction of where second slip typically stands. Buttler initially missed the catch, but then the captain reached out and managed to hold on to it.

David Newbould is a representative of all of us.

Why do they keep playing terrible music non-stop during the cricket match?

I don't know what's going on, but I really hope they will stop soon.

John Ryan has returned. He's back, and he's better than ever.

It seems like the final 2-3 overs have dashed any chances of reaching a score near to 200; de Kock lost momentum and Hendricks didn't contribute much, putting all the pressure on Klaasen.

Are South Africa content with their score of 160? What happened to their aggression?

Thanks to Rashid and Ali, they have bowled really well and the South African team has had difficulty dealing with the slower deliveries. However, there is still a long way to go. The target of 200 runs is still achievable.

In the 11th over, South Africa are at 89-1 with De Kock scoring 64 runs and Rashid only 2. The last five overs have brought in 26 runs. Rashid's performance in this over is the standout, as he only allows two singles. Klaasen, who is right-handed, is struggling to anticipate Rashid's different deliveries, including the top-spinner and wrong ‘un. It's clear that Rashid is a talented spinner, showcasing his skills in this over.

In the 10th over of the match, South Africa is at 87-1 with De Kock scoring 64 runs and Klaasen adding 1 run. Ali has taken a wicket, sending Hendricks back to the pavilion. Both teams are pleased with this result, although I personally like Hendricks as a player. Klaasen is the new batsman, chosen to take on the spin bowlers. He is known for hitting spinners well. He starts with a single to the off-side sweeper. Will this lead to a change in bowling and bring Wood into the attack?

Hendricks Out For 19, South Africa 86-1

Hendricks' disappointing stay on the pitch has finally finished. Despite his efforts, he was unable to make any contact with the ball as Ali bowled it wide. A reckless swing of the bat sent the ball soaring high towards Brook at long-on, who caught it easily. South Africa probably won't be too upset about losing Hendricks.

9th over: South Africa is at 80 runs without losing any wickets. Hendricks has scored 18 runs and De Kock has scored 59 runs. Rashid bowled a fantastic over, even though he didn't manage to take a wicket. Hendricks is struggling to score runs, facing 23 balls without much success. He needs to start scoring runs quickly.

For those who didn't see it, De Kock hit a shot that went straight to Wood at fine leg, but the fast bowler wasn't able to catch it cleanly. After looking at the replay, De Kock was given another chance at bat.

It's fortunate that they are skilled at batting.

Oman, Canada, and the USA have a higher bowling average in this competition compared to England's 30.04.

England's bowling strike rate of 21.9 is only better than Oman, Papua New Guinea, Canada, and the USA.

Didn't get him out! The catch seemed easy, but Wood didn't catch it cleanly. Buttler argued that it was a clean catch, but the ball clearly hit the ground. De Kock got lucky and was not given out.

You know what? I believe Wood has really let the cat out of the bag on this one...

De Kock has hit a ball to the leg side towards Wood at the fine leg position. However, it is unclear if Wood has caught the ball cleanly. They are currently reviewing the play to determine the outcome.

In the 8th over, South Africa is at 75 runs with no wickets lost. Hendricks has scored 14 runs and De Kock has scored 58 runs. Ali is bowling again and it's a decent over, with six runs scored. Spin bowling is doing well for England. I praised Hendricks before, but he needs to score more. He has faced 19 balls so far. He needs to either start hitting the ball well or prepare to leave the pitch.

"With this beginning, and this strategy, and their ability… I believe South Africa should aim for a score of approximately 215-220, what is your opinion?"

I think that's the goal, John Ryan. They will be aware that England has the strength to reach any score. Hendricks may need to hurry up to ensure that the key players have sufficient time to get into their rhythm.

In the 7th over of the match, South Africa has scored 69 runs without losing any wickets. Their opening batsmen, Hendricks and De Kock, are showing a strong partnership. Adil Rashid, known as the top T20 bowler in the world, is now on the field. The South African players are cautious and only manage to score six runs off his over. De Kock impressively reaches his fifty off just 22 balls, making it one of the fastest in the tournament. Hendricks is also playing well in a supporting role.

6th over: South Africa is off to a strong start with a score of 63-0. Hendricks has scored 11 runs while De Kock is leading with 49 runs. De Kock is impressing with his performance, hitting boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Curran, known for his admirable run-up, is trying different techniques with slower balls and off-cutters. However, De Kock manages to smash one delivery for a six. Although he almost gets a boundary with a cut shot, Livingstone shows great fielding skills by saving the runs. South Africa scores 12 runs in this over, making it their best powerplay performance in the World Cup so far.

Switching bowlers. Archer gave up 21 runs in one over, so now Curran is taking over.

In the fifth over of the match, South Africa's score is 51-0 with Hendricks scoring 11 runs and De Kock scoring 39 runs. Topley gives away his first boundary to De Kock with a beautifully executed late cut. Apart from a wide delivery to Hendricks on the leg side, Topley bowls well by keeping a tight line and length and also mixing up his deliveries with cutters. The South African batsmen are content with taking five singles in the over.

4th over: South Africa is currently at 41-0, with Hendricks scoring 9 and de Kock at 32. When facing Jofra Archer, it may seem like a challenging task, but for Quinton de Kock, it's the perfect opportunity. Despite initially struggling, de Kock quickly turned things around with an impressive display of batting skills. He hit sixes and a four with finesse. Archer tried to adjust his strategy, but de Kock continued to dominate, scoring boundaries effortlessly. Additionally, Hendricks also joined in on the action, hitting a four with precision. This over resulted in a total of 21 runs, showcasing South Africa's strong performance in the match.

It's time for Jofra Archer versus Quinton de Kock. This match-up is going to be interesting.

Thomas Walker has contributed to our discussion about the excess of cricket in New York City.

Hey there, Dan here writing from my office in midtown Manhattan. Just wanted to give a shoutout to OBO for their coverage. In my opinion, I get the arguments about there being too much T20 cricket, but I believe this World Cup has been a huge success for the ICC. There's been a lot of buzz in New York about the tournament - even sports bars are airing the games (who would have thought we'd see cricket on TV in this city?). Americans are really getting into the big hits and fast-paced action of T20 cricket. It's a nice change from just watching baseball all the time - in cricket, batters actually hit the ball and the games are action-packed.

We don't necessarily need a T20 World Cup every year, but having the tournament held in the US and Caribbean has been truly fantastic. As an Australian, I've been excited to introduce the sport to my friends locally and to catch some games in Barbados (an amazing place to watch cricket - the enthusiasm is contagious). I can see why some people in the UK or Australia might think it's unnecessary and there's already too much cricket, but for passionate fans like me and my friends, having the tournament in this region has been a truly amazing experience.

3rd over: South Africa is currently at 19 runs without any wickets (Hendricks at 14, De Kock at 6). Topley had a strong over and made it hard for the batsmen to score runs. Good fielding on the boundary prevented De Kock from hitting a four. The bowler kept a consistent line, only allowing the South African team to score singles.

Second over: South Africa: 14-0 (Hendricks 3, De Kock 11) Ali bowls to De Kock and South Africa comes out on top. De Kock finishes the over with a boundary past mid-on and a six over long-off. He showed quick footwork on both shots. A couple of singles add to the total, making it a 12-run over. South Africa is off to a good start.

In case anyone was curious why Archer didn't begin:

Quinton de Kock and Jofra Archer go head-to-head in T20 cricket with a batting average of 41 and a strike rate of 182.2. They have dismissed a total of 22 players in their matches.

1st over: South Africa starts off with two runs on the board, with Hendricks scoring 2 and De Kock at 0. Topley's first ball is on target, right at the stumps. Hendricks tries to hit a cover drive but it hits the fielder. He manages to score two runs with a steer past point. Topley has a good start to the over.

The national songs have been sung. The South African batters are heading to the field. The English team is huddled up before the match. Who will be the first bowler? Moeen Ali has had success bowling against Quinton de Kock.

Actually, it's Reece Topley passing the ball to Reeza Hendricks, who really needs to make a significant score in today's game.

I just wanted to say Happy Solstice to everyone in OBO Land. I hope it brings good luck to England.

That's according to John Starbuck.

Greetings to all who are watching.

I am being reminded to appreciate my complaint about there being too much cricket. It's a good thing! It would be unfortunate if the excitement faded.

We have Brendan Large sharing his thoughts:

I want to join the group of people who were thrilled to receive that email from Alistair Connor!

Living in Norway, I often have trouble finding ways to watch live cricket on TV. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the ICC broadcasts games online! This is fantastic news.

Regarding the issue of 'too many cricket games', I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of competition in the tournament up to this point (although the super eights have been slightly less engaging). There have been several matches that were much more competitive and exciting than I had anticipated. I believe that the low-scoring pitches have added a lot of value to the games.

Guys, you're really convincing me to rethink my position. I appreciate it!

Tristan Stubbs and Shaun Pollock are talking about the strong wind.

I've mentioned this before, but hitting with the wind will help hit sixes. Hitting against it will cause the ball to slow down and batters to get out.

Yet another exciting factor that could change the outcome of the competition.

I was thrilled to receive this email from Alistair Connor.

He is really enjoying all the cricket matches. I wish there were more people like Alistair who share his passion for the sport.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the cricket action? Think again.

I have been tuning in to more live cricket matches on TV in the past few weeks than ever before because the ICC is now streaming them online. I never wanted to pay for it or deal with the technical challenges of watching it before, especially since I don't live in a country where cricket is popular.

My husband and I decided not to accept an invitation to travel to Trinidad to see the NZ/WI match with our friends who we watched a game with at Old Trafford in 2019. We felt that flying all that way just didn't feel right in terms of our impact on the environment.

Even though my team was knocked out by Afghanistan, I have no shame but I am still watching closely.

South Africa has replaced their attacking spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, with their reliable seamer Ottniel Baartman.

The South African cricket team decided to play with two spin bowlers in the match against the United States. Keshav Maharaj, who is a left-arm spinner, kept his spot in the team. Although the wrist spinner Shamsi took some wickets, he also got hit hard by the opponents.

The deck appears to be in great condition. It's a new pitch and Mike Atherton mentioned that this ground produces more runs per over than any other in the tournament.

I'm not sure what the ideal score would be. It seems like aiming for 200 points is a good goal, but maybe scoring 180 would be sufficient.

Winning the toss was a good advantage. It's smarter to chase the score.

Jos Chooses To Bowl After Winning The Toss

Jos Butler enjoys a challenge. He believes that the ball will move in the beginning of the match, and supports the strategy and team that secured a victory against the West Indies.

England's lineup for the upcoming match includes Salt, Buttler as captain and wicketkeeper, Bairstow, Brook, Ali, Livingstone, Curran, Archer, Rashid, Wood, and Topley.

Aiden Markram also would have chosen to bowl first. The only difference for them is that wrist spinner Shamsi is not playing, and seamer Baartman is taking his place.

South Africa: De Kock as wicketkeeper, Hendricks, Markram as captain, Klaasen, Miller, Stubbs, Jansen, Maharaj, Rabada, Nortje, and Baartman.

Can there be an excess of T20 cricket?

Absolutely. Without a doubt. We are all aware of it. It seems that even the officials involved in the sport are aware of it as well.

Expressing such sentiments during a T20 World Cup match between two strong teams may appear pessimistic, but if they organize an event and nobody attends, it is necessary to address challenging issues during crucial times.

What do you think about the World Cup so far? Has it sparked your interest? Are you excited about T20 cricket?

Anticipating fewer people to attend the T20 World Cup match at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground today, as it is St Lucia's first game starting at 10.30am after playing four games in the last six nights.

There weren't many fans in attendance when the DJ played Fred Again for the first time at 9:20am local time.

Ali Martin has identified two important players for England in their match against South Africa.

One player to keep an eye on is Jofra Archer, who has not reached his full potential yet, but has shown moments of brilliance.

Another player to watch is Phil Salt, who became England's leading run scorer with his impressive 87 not out against the West Indies, showcasing his talent.

Besides being significant, Salt and Archer share another similarity. Curious to find out what it is? Dive into this:

Moving on to cricket topics, the other top teams in the competition are looking very impressive.

Australia crushed Bangladesh and India dominated Afghanistan.

There is no doubt that England is facing a tough challenge in the Super 8 group stage, but after beating the Windies, a victory here would almost guarantee them a spot in the final four.

Before we dive into the fun, let's first address some sad news.

David Lawrence, the first black player born in Britain to play for England, has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

There isn't much to add except that it's a terrible situation, and all of us in the cricket community are sending our thoughts and best wishes to David and his family during this difficult time.

It's a crazy game, isn't it? Just six days ago, England was on the brink of elimination due to rain. But they managed to beat Namibia in a shortened match, and with Australia's narrow victory over Scotland, they advanced to the Super 8. They started off strong by defeating the West Indies by eight wickets on Wednesday. Now, as reigning champions, they are feeling confident about their chances of retaining the title.

Beating South Africa will almost ensure that they will reach the semi-finals. They will still need to defeat the USA, who showed they are strong in their close match against South Africa, but with strong opening batters and a powerful pace attack, they should be able to overcome the weakest team remaining in the tournament.

The South African team has been the most challenging to assess. They easily defeated Sri Lanka in their first match, but their victories over Bangladesh and Nepal were not as straightforward. They were fortunate to win both matches and were pushed to their limits by Andries Gous, an expat from Welkom who scored an impressive 80 runs off 47 balls while dressed in American attire.

Aiden Markram's team has some weaknesses, but it is full of incredibly talented players. They just need enough of them to play well at the same time.

This game is going to be exciting. Both teams seem to be playing their best right now. A victory here could push them towards even more success.

If you would like to contact me (and assure me that you won't make things worse for South Africa), please send me an email.

The teams will soon arrive and the match will begin. The first ball will be bowled at 3:30pm BST/10:30am in St Lucia.
