Rapper Snoop Dogg has recently declared that he will be abstaining from smoking, putting an end to his long-term involvement with cannabis.

The rapper, who is 52 years old and famous for both his music and his love of drugs, announced to his fans on Thursday (November 16th) that he has made the decision to quit smoking after thinking about it a lot and talking to his family.

"I kindly ask you to respect my privacy during this period," wrote Snoop, whose actual name is Calvin Broadus, through their Twitter account.

At the moment, it's uncertain if the hip-hop artist is actually being truthful, or if the statement is just a ploy to promote his cannabis business, Leafs By Snoop.

On X, a person replied, "I think this may just be a promotional tactic for him to introduce his own series of vapes or edibles."

"Hey Snoop, today is not April Fools' Day," said another person. Someone else chimed in, saying that Snoop without weed is like the planet without water."

Someone else mentioned that Snoop is on the verge of becoming a renowned figure in the world of edibles.

The Independent has reached out to Snoop's spokesperson to obtain a comment.

The performer of the hit song "Drop It Like It's Hot" has been a supporter of marijuana for a long time, even before it was made legal in all states of America.

California, where Snoop hails from, was the inaugural state to legalize marijuana for medical purposes. Subsequently, in 2016, the state followed in Colorado and Washington's footsteps and sanctioned it for recreational use.

Snoop Dogg established Leafs By Snoop in Denver, Colorado in 2015. The company specializes in creating unique cannabis products such as strains, concentrates, edibles, and flowers.

Snoop Dogg has been known to puff on marijuana on stage during his performances. He also appeared as a guest in the popular comedy movie Half-Baked in 1998. The film features three pot enthusiasts who decide to sell marijuana from a pharmaceutical lab to pay for their friend's bail, who has recently been arrested.

The hip-hop artist gained popularity when he appeared on another hip-hop artist, Dr Dre's 1992 album, The Chronic. The picture on the CD cover of this highly successful album shows a leaf from the cannabis plant. The album has earned a certification of triple platinum.

Snoop dropped his first album, Doggystyle, in 1993, which rapidly propelled him to fame in the world of rap music.
