Palmer booed as Coventry draw at Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday

Kasey Palmer was substituted out after playing for 63 minutes and receiving a yellow card.

After the FA Cup Fourth Round match where Coventry City drew against Sheffield Wednesday, their manager Mark Robins criticized the fans who booed Kasey Palmer, calling them "absolute clowns".

A male suspect was apprehended for allegedly hurling racial insults at the Sky Blues midfielder during their winning match against the Owls in the Championship over the weekend.

Before the game started, the Coventry team knelt down together to show that they stand together against racism. Some fans in the stadium clapped, but others let out a few boos. During the match, a few Wednesday supporters also booed Palmer.

Robins, the manager of Sky Blues, expressed his disappointment about the reaction and deemed it shameful in his statement to BBC CWR.

Individuals should take a moment to reflect on their actions. It's absurd and completely ridiculous. The situation is laughable.

Kasey is a footballer who has a family and desires to relish his game, just like any other player. However, there are certain individuals who are complete buffoons and cause trouble.

When questioned about the negative reaction towards Palmer, the manager of Wednesday, Danny Rohl, commented: "It was crucial that we demonstrated our unified stance last week, communicating our message through all parties involved, my team, the supporters, and the club. Our previous statement conveyed our strong views regarding similar incidents."

We simply cannot tolerate this unacceptable behavior and we are determined to take action. It is vital for us to be accountable for what we witness and hear. Each and every one of us is responsible and must contribute to making a change.

The Owls managed to get a tie against the same team in the Championship after Djeidi Gassama scored a last-minute goal.

Victor Torp scored his first goal for the Sky Blues just before halftime at Hillsborough. The team has been performing well lately and Torp's goal was a great shot that went into the top corner from far away.

Nonetheless, the guests were unable to maintain their lead, as Gassama managed to score a goal with a small deflection in the 84th minute.

At the beginning of the game, Palmer displayed his superior skills and almost secured a great start for his team in just two minutes. However, he was unable to keep the ball on course for the goal.

Once Coventry had a good beginning, the Wednesday team reacted and almost scored an impressive goal thanks to Ike Ugbo's shot. However, he failed to connect with Barry Bannan's clever delivery to complete a superb attacking play.

Torp, a midfielder from Denmark, joined the Robins' team at the start of this month. He scored the first point in the match with a stunning shot from a long distance, around 35 yards away from the goalpost. The ball flew past Owls' goalkeeper Pierce Charles, who was unable to stop it.

On Wednesday, a team positioned second-last in the Championship, increased their efforts to level the score and successfully achieved it. Gassama scored the equaliser by shooting a low-driven ball into the near post after receiving a pass from Bannan.

Charles had enough time left to make an incredible stop, stopping Jamie Allen from scoring the winning goal and preventing the hosts from winning their third game of the season.

During an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, the head coach of Sheffield Wednesday, Danny Rohl, expressed his thoughts.

We were worthy of the tie - we put in a considerable effort into this match too.

In my opinion, we performed admirably in the latter portion of the game, consistently taking the initiative, and the initial half was satisfactory.

Overall, we can enhance our performance in the attacking area in specific scenarios. We need to discover the clever pass that can lead to generating more opportunities.

Replaying the game won't be a simple task since there is still one more match to play. However, this is typical of football, so we must rise to the challenge and focus on the positives from the prior game.

Mark Robins, who is in charge of Coventry, spoke to BBC CWR:

"Don't give up if you're not winning, instead let's bring them to our location and give it our all."

I perceived the game to be messy, and the pitch proved to be challenging once again - their formation made it hard to maneuver.

Victor faced a difficult challenge when he joined the game, but he was well-prepared for it. He scored an amazing goal, and it was a great way to start his career with Coventry.
