Sharon Stone Shares Heartbreaking Truth About Falling Out Of Favor In Hollywood
Sharon Stone expressed her emotional pain regarding the entertainment industry's abandoning her following a severe health issue that halted her career.
The performer and artist was very open when she spoke on "Good Morning Britain" about her decision to step away from the entertainment industry after experiencing a stroke and a bleeding in the brain that nearly took her life in 2001.
Stone shared with hosts Kate Garraway and Ed Balls on Thursday that it took her approximately seven years to take her first significant step towards recovery, which is a considerable amount of time to lose one's impetus.
The celebrity mentioned that putting more attention on her well-being had a significant effect on her profession. She reached new heights in the 1990s, landing roles in popular movies such as "Total Recall," "Basic Instinct," and "Casino."
Stone clarified that after seven years, one may not remain as popular or in-demand as before and their career outlook may change. Additionally, individuals who they previously collaborated with in the industry may no longer hold positions of authority.
Sharon Stone was present at the 49th Chaplin Award ceremony to commemorate Jeff Bridges on April 29 in New York City. On Thursday, Sharon shared her experience of how the entertainment industry treated her after she narrowly survived a brain hemorrhage back in 2001. She continued by saying that everything is constantly evolving and individuals do not give much importance to that particular person anymore. It is analogous to returning to your previous employment after seven years. It does not make any difference if your profession is banking or selling cars. Seven years have passed, and you cannot simply rejoin your job believing that nothing has transformed.
Stone confessed, "It did sting a bit that the universe progressed without me," but shared that she has "more or less accepted it" at present.
In addition, she discussed dealing with a hidden disability caused by her brain trauma. She pointed out how it is easier for others to offer assistance when they notice someone using crutches to walk, but when someone is struggling with brain function, it may not be as noticeable to onlookers.
Keeping one's creativity alive has been pivotal for Stone. After experiencing a stroke and a dangerous brain hemorrhage, she started to paint as a way of maintaining her creative energy.
She expressed that she feels most comfortable and content when she has the opportunity to express her creativity through mediums such as film or canvas. It brings her a sense of belonging and harmony within herself and the world around her.
At the moment, Stone is the main attraction at two separate art exhibitions. "Sharon Stone: My Eternal Failure" premiered in San Francisco just last month, while her European debut, entitled "Totem," is now on display in Berlin and will continue to be shown until June.
