Former justice minister Sir Robert Buckland first Conservative big beast to lose seat

Labour won by a large margin in Swindon South, with Heidi Alexander receiving 21,676 votes compared to Sir Roberts’ 12,070.

Reform UK came in third, receiving 6,194 votes.

Before, Mrs Alexander was the Member of Parliament for Lewisham East but she stepped down in 2018 to become the deputy mayor of London for transport under Sadiq Khan. However, she is now preparing to make a comeback to Parliament.

In his final speech, Sir Robert emphasized that politics is facing a critical moment and the Conservative Party needs to make a wise decision in order to engage and inspire a new generation. He cautioned against reducing politics to mere spectacle.

The ex-justice secretary stated that our political system is currently facing a critical point. Do we prioritize individuals who strive to unite people and make a difference in politics, rather than focusing on personal ambition?

Do we just ignore all the drama in politics and see it as a show where candidates say things they know aren't true just to get attention, or make promises they can't keep that only make people trust them less?

Other important Conservative candidates like Grant Shapps, Johnny Mercer, and Jeremy Hunt are also in danger of not getting re-elected.

He stated that he would be remembered as the Conservative Prime Minister and leader who experienced the poorest election outcome in more than a hundred years.

"He never intended to do that when he took on the position as the party leader," he stated during his interview on GB News.

Sir Brandon explained that he didn't procrastinate until the deadline to announce the election. He carefully decided when to call for the election and stands by that choice.

It's not anyone else's concern, the decision is made by the Prime Minister.

I believe that is heavily burdening him at the moment.

The early predictions show Labour in the lead with a projected majority of 170 seats, while the Tories are expected to have just 131 seats and the Lib Dems are on track to gain 61 seats. Stay tuned for further updates.
