Rangers and Celtic reach Scottish Cup semis with Hibs and Livingston wins
The Rangers secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup by defeating Hibernian 2-0 at Easter Road, where the opposing team had only nine players.
In the 23rd minute of the game, midfielder John Lundstram scored the first goal after Hibs goalkeeper David Marshall blocked a penalty from Rangers captain James Tavernier. During a dispute with John Souttar, Hibs' Martin Boyle sustained an injury and had to be hospitalized. In the second half of the match, Philippe Clement's team struggled due to fatigue after their tough 2-2 draw against Benfica in the Europa League in Lisbon on Thursday evening.
In the 68th minute of the game, Jordan Obita, who plays defense for Hibernian, received his second yellow card for fouling Rabbi Matondo and was subsequently sent off. Just three minutes later, Nathan Moriah-Welsh was given a straight red card by the referee, Steven McLean, for a foul on Lundstram.
Fábio Silva, the forward for the Portuguese team, scored another goal during the 83rd minute resulting in Rangers being included in the last-four draw. This includes Aberdeen and Celtic, while Morton, a team in the Championship, will also be hosting Hearts on Monday night.
Daizen Maeda celebrated his 100th game in Celtic with an outstanding hat-trick that secured a victory against Livingston, who put up a fight until the very end. Maeda scored his third and final goal in the 86th minute, making a total of 27 goals for the club after Livingston had equalised twice through Daniel MacKay and Tete Yengi. Kyogo Furuhashi also scored in stoppage time, leading Celtic to a 4-2 win.
