Match report: Rangers (H) - Kilmarnock FC

Rangers

Kilmarnock achieved an impressive 1-0 win over Rangers, thanks to a late goal from Marley Watkins.

Derek McInnes made just one adjustment from our 3-2 win against Dundee, bringing back Stuart Findlay in place of David Watson, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury and will now sit on the bench.

The win pushes Kilmarnock into a tie for sixth place in the William Hill Scottish Premiership, with the team from Ayrshire now enjoying an unbeaten streak of six matches across all competitions.

Killie nearly took the lead within the first five minutes when Jack Butland left his net unprotected. However, Marley Watkins was unable to make the most of the opportunity, as his shot was stopped right in front of the goal.

After 11 minutes, Corrie Ndaba sent a brilliant cross into the penalty area, and it seemed like Matty Kennedy was all set to score, but he just couldn't connect with it.

In the 18th minute, Vaclav Cerny took a solid shot from outside the penalty area, but Robby McCrorie made a great save to keep the ball out of the net.

Robbie Deas managed to score just before the 30-minute mark, but his celebrations were quickly halted when the offside flag was raised.

Kyle Vassell leaped high into the air when Danny Armstrong made his way into the penalty area after 40 minutes. However, the captain failed to make the contact he was hoping for, and the ball went narrowly off target.

Five minutes into the second half, Cyriel Dessers unleashed a strong shot from long range, but McCrorie made an impressive dive to make the save.

Dessers seemed poised to net a goal from just a few feet away, but his shot hit the ground and then bounced off the crossbar.

Nedim Bajrami later found himself in a great position just outside the penalty area, but his shot went just over the bar, much to the relief of the home team.

Just after the hour mark, Matty Kennedy had a solid opportunity, but he mishit his shot from inside the box, sending it soaring over the crossbar.

In the 74th minute, Deas found himself with another excellent opportunity, but he failed to make contact with the cross and send the ball into the goal.

Watkins ignited the excitement in the stands when he connected with a brilliant pass from David Watson and struck the ball past the approaching Jack Butland.
