Princess Anne remains in hospital for second day

Princess Anne

The Princess Royal is now in her second day at the hospital, receiving treatment for a minor head injury and concussion that was likely caused by a horse.

Princess Anne, who is 73 years old, is doing well after the incident on her estate in Gloucestershire on Sunday, according to Buckingham Palace. She is on track to completely recover.

However, she won't be able to attend the fancy dinner with the Emperor and Empress of Japan, and her visit to Canada scheduled for this week has been pushed back.

The King has sent his deepest love and hopes for a quick recovery to the princess, while Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer have also extended their best wishes.

The Princess Royal was hurt on Sunday evening while walking on her property with horses nearby.

The princess cannot remember what happened on Sunday night because of her head injury.

The doctors said that her head injury is similar to what could happen if a horse kicked her or hit her with its head.

The princess was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after emergency services were summoned to the estate.

Her spouse, Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, along with her daughter Zara and son Peter, were present on the property when the incident occurred. Afterwards, her husband accompanied her to the hospital.

The princess is awake and is anticipated to remain in the hospital until the end of this week "as a precaution for observation", according to a statement from Buckingham Palace released on Monday.

Southmead is a hospital that is part of the NHS and the North Bristol NHS Trust. It offers a wide range of medical services, with a special focus on neuroscience.

A spokesman from Buckingham Palace mentioned that Her Royal Highness is doing well in her recovery, is in a cozy state, and is remaining in the hospital for further observation as a precaution.

The representative stated: "Following advice from doctors, the Queen's upcoming events for the week will be rescheduled. The Queen apologizes to anyone who may be affected or let down by this change."

Based on information from the NHS, a concussion can occur when the brain is temporarily injured by a bump, hit, or sudden force.

It may lead to memory loss, fatigue, and difficulty focusing, and it may take a few weeks to fully recover.

Throughout the week, the princess had a busy schedule of events lined up, such as hosting the Japanese state visit and attending various commitments in Scotland, Hampshire, and Gloucestershire.

Princess Anne being hospitalized is the newest health issue affecting the Royal Family.

King Charles and the Princess of Wales have both been diagnosed with cancer this year, which has led to a decrease in their appearances at public events.

In the meantime, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan are starting a three-day official visit to the UK.

The guests will be greeted with a special welcome ceremony and then take a carriage ride up the Mall. Afterwards, they will attend a formal dinner hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.

However, due to the upcoming general-election campaign, the Japanese royal couple will not visit Downing Street.
