Pogba 'sad and shocked' at four-year ban for doping

Paul Pogba played 233 games for Manchester United two times before he joined Juventus again in the year 2022.

Paul Pogba, who plays as a midfielder for Juventus, expressed his sadness, shock, and heartbreak after receiving a four-year ban from football due to a doping violation.

He made a statement saying that all the things he had achieved in his career were stripped away from him.

The ex-Manchester United athlete stated that he would make an appeal.

Pogba underwent a spontaneous drug test subsequent to Juventus' initial game of the season on August 20th.

Italy's national anti-doping tribunal proved the positive test through a second sample examination in October. As a result, the prosecutor's office in charge of anti-doping asked for a ban of four years.

According to the BBC, Juventus has informed them that they have been notified by the anti-doping tribunal on Thursday morning.

Pogba expressed his disagreement with the decision, stating that it was "wrong" and that he would never purposely use performance-enhancing drugs.

He mentioned that when he is no longer bound by legal limitations, the entire narrative will be revealed.

As someone who is a part of the sports industry, I am completely against the use of any prohibited products or substances to improve my performance. I have never shown any disrespect towards my fellow athletes, nor have I ever attempted to cheat in any of the games I have played for my team or against other teams.

This decision implies that Pogba won't be able to participate in any upcoming games until 2027, when he'll be 33 years old. The suspension will be in effect from the day the drug test came back positive.

When Pogba was first suspended, his representative, Rafaela Pimenta, spoke and stated that it was evident that Paul Pogba did not intend to violate any regulations.

Testosterone is a chemical substance that enhances the stamina of sportspeople.

According to Nado, Pogba has broken the regulations by having substances in his body that are not naturally produced by testosterone, which are prohibited. The results show that the substances may have come from an external source.

In July 2022, Pogba returned to Juventus on a contract that lasts four years, after he allowed his contract with Manchester United to expire and departed without any transfer fee.

In the past, he was a player for the esteemed Italian team for four years starting from 2012. During that time, he participated in 178 games in various competitions and was able to make 34 goals. Subsequently, he transferred to United for a fee of £89.3m, which at that time was considered to be the most expensive in the world.

The comeback of the person who won the 2018 World Cup in Turin has been plagued by continual injuries, causing them to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Pogba did not start in the games against Bologna and Empoli this season and only played for a combined time of 51 minutes as a substitute.

During the previous season, he participated in six games in Serie A, playing for 108 minutes. He also made appearances in the Europa League where he assisted a goal and participated in three games. He played for eleven minutes in the Coppa Italia altogether, adding up to 162 minutes of playing time, without scoring any goals.
