If you're interested in the New York theater scene, you've likely heard whispers about Paul Mescal possibly bringing the West End production of A Streetcar Named Desire to Broadway. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. So it was quite unexpected when Deadline somewhat revealed that the show is indeed heading to Broadway while discussing unrelated news about Ridley Scott. According to their report, Mescal will feature in Scott's upcoming film, The Dog Stars, which is set to start filming next spring, right after Mescal takes on the role of Stanley Kowalski in Streetcar on Broadway. He’s revisiting the character from the acclaimed London production of Tennessee Williams' play. Interestingly, one of the most significant pieces of information from this is that the production won't be heading to BAM as previously speculated. Currently, we don’t have any further details about the show, such as cast members, performance dates, or the theater, but it seems likely that it will debut before April to be eligible for the Tonys. This would set up a competition between Mescal and his Gladiator II co-star, Denzel Washington, who is performing in Othello. And, as a fun thought, both might end up losing to Cole Escola!
