16 Qualifiers Lead The Way On Day Of Dramatic Rose Headlines

Justin Rose was the main player among the 16 players who successfully qualified at four different locations in the UK. 11 of these players will be making their debut at the prestigious Royal Troon golf course.

Rose, who won the Silver Medal at Royal Birkdale in 1998, scored -8 in his two rounds at Burnham & Berrow to secure one of the four available spots at the Somerset venue. This was the first time Final Qualifying was held at this location.

Dominic Clemons, along with four other amateur players, secured their spots in the tournament on Tuesday. Abraham Ancer and Charlie Lindh also earned spots after a play-off, leaving Anirban Lahiri out of the running.

The golf tournament at Dundonald Links was full of excitement as Angel Hidalgo secured his spot by making an impressive eagle on his last hole. This amazing shot from 120 yards away allowed him to avoid a tie-breaker and secure his victory.

Sam Hutsby was in the lead with a score of -8, while Liam Nolan and Hidalgo were tied at -5. Jack McDonald also qualified to play at The Open after winning a play-off, following in his grandfather's footsteps.

No one has performed as well in Final Qualifying as Matthew Southgate in the past few years, and he once again excelled in the 36-hole event at Royal Cinque Ports for the fifth time.

Southgate ended the tournament six strokes under par, securing a three-shot victory over his closest competitors Elvis Smylie and Jaime Montoyo. Both Smylie and Montoyo will be making their debut at the Open in Ayrshire. Montoyo's teammate, Luis Masaveu, also secured a spot in the Open after making a 20-foot putt in a sudden-death playoff.

Sergio Garcia was the main focus of attention at West Lancashire, but unfortunately, the Spanish player missed out again for the second consecutive year, ending up two shots behind the qualifiers.

Newcomers Matthew Dodd-Berry and Sam Horsfield ended up in a tie for first place at -6, while Daniel Brown and Masahiro Kawamura were one shot behind, making it to the qualifying round.
