Nottingham Forest’s Danilo discharged from hospital after horror ankle injury
Nottingham Forest's midfielder Danilo promises to return quickly after suffering an ankle injury just seven minutes into the start of the new Premier League season.
The young man suffered a terrible injury when he fell awkwardly during a collision with Antoine Semenyo in Forest's 1-1 match. He received nine minutes of medical attention, with team members using blankets to protect him from onlookers, and was taken directly to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Danilo got back home on Saturday and shared a message on Instagram: "Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I'm okay, thank goodness, and I made it home. I'll be back soon. Thank you all for your kind messages of support."
The coach of the Forest team, Nuno Espírito Santo, has already said that Danilo will be out for a long time. Nuno said, "It's a terrible situation for everyone. We will definitely miss him, not just in the games. We all know him as someone who is always happy and cheerful. He is a key player for us. We hope he recovers well."
Nuno mentioned that the incident didn't just impact our players, but also everyone in the stadium. It really affected the players mentally. Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth manager, also expressed his concern, saying he immediately knew the injury was serious and would be very bad.
Forest grabbed the lead shortly after Danilo got injured thanks to a goal from Chris Wood. However, Semenyo managed to secure a draw for the visitors in the 86th minute. Bournemouth had to play without Evanilson, their record signing from Porto for a potential fee of over £40m, as his transfer was not completed in time for him to play at the City Ground.
Lille's Gomes Recovering After Head Injury
According to Lille's President Olivier Letang, Angel Gomes, the midfielder, is in good condition after being hospitalized for a severe head injury.
The Lille vs. Reims game in Ligue 1 had to be delayed for over 30 minutes as Gomes, a 23-year-old player, was injured after colliding with Reims midfielder Amadou Kone. Gomes had to be taken off the field on a stretcher, and Lille coach Bruno Génésio was extremely worried about the injury, as Gomes was left unconscious.
Angel Gomes is performing well, but we will need to wait for the results of his extra tests before we can confirm a successful outcome," Letang commented following the game, where Lille emerged victorious with a 2-0 win.
Génésio mentioned in a post-game interview that the recent updates were comforting, but he advised to still remain careful. He also noted that Angel jokingly inquired about his potential inclusion in the upcoming Saturday game, showing a positive attitude. Génésio emphasized that the focus should not only be on the match that took place that night. The information was reported by Reuters.
