Letters to The Mag - Newcastle United fans with their say
The thoughts keep coming in to The Mag, as Newcastle United supporters discuss the different topics impacting our team.
There is never a lack of topics to discuss, whether they are related to activities on the field or outside of it.
The upcoming 2024/25 Premier League season is quickly approaching, with just a little over three weeks to go.
Newcastle United supporters sharing their thoughts and views, along with occasional guests from different places.
Sometimes people send us very short contributions that are not long enough to be a full article. We have collected some recent comments about Newcastle United that were sent in. If you would like to send us anything, whether it is long or short, you can email us at [email protected].
Ideas from the land of the long white cloud.
Willock is taking the place of Longstaff, while Barnes is stepping in for Murphy.
Perfect lineup with everyone on hand and ready: Pope, Livramento, Schar, Botman, Trippier, Willock, Bruno, Tonali, Gordon, Isak, Barnes
I am nearly eighty years old, originally from Byker but now residing in the Peak District, which is 150 miles away from St James Park.
I love it, always have and always will.
Even though I haven't been able to see the team in person since the Souness era, I feel like I've shown my loyalty by attending over 1,300 matches since my very first one watching Jackie Milburn play in 1952.
Now I satisfy my Toon Army craving from the comfort of my couch, watching on TV and engaging on social media. It's amazing how technology allows me to stay connected without even leaving my seat.
Continue doing great, guys.
I believe there are many people, like me, who are fans of The Mag and enjoy reading your articles.
Marc Guehi is no longer eligible to play in the cup matches because he has already played in a cup match for another team.
We may never uncover the truth about this very lengthy situation, but I have had enough of it.
Guehi is not valued at £70 million and it wouldn't be shocking if we decided to end negotiations awhile back. It's possible that the media is just using this story as clickbait.
Paul Mitchell has not had a successful beginning no matter how this situation unfolds.
If Guehi ends up signing, it seems like we've spent too much money on him. He will be under a lot of pressure to prove that he was worth the hefty price tag. Any errors he makes will be seen as a sign that he wasn't worth the investment, and Palace will be criticized for overspending. If things don't go well, it could really damage his confidence. Hopefully, if he does sign, he can handle the pressure.
If Guehi does not agree to sign, it will be viewed as a significant letdown for Mitchell, regardless of Palace's actions, which have probably been challenging with shifting expectations.
We only have three days remaining to sign a central defender and a right winger who can make an impact on the field.
It would be completely unacceptable if we fail to achieve either...
I came across some news today that we were close to accepting a £70m offer from Liverpool for Anthony Gordon due to PSR reasons. However, the deal fell through at the last minute when we sold Anderson and Minteh. It's not surprising that Gordon is feeling a bit upset about almost being sold, especially after being our player of the season last year. Hopefully, he can move past it and get back to his usual form, as it seems to have affected his performance recently.
I feel very sympathetic for Eddie right now. It seems like everything is going wrong for him. I hope he doesn't feel like he's all alone in this tough situation, even though it may feel that way to him.
I hope we can defeat Forest and move forward.
Newcastle clearly have a lot of money available to buy new players this transfer window, as shown by their interest in and offers for Marc Guehi.
In my opinion, we have been very patient in our negotiations with Crystal Palace. It would be foolish to not complete the deal now, especially since we urgently need a right sided center back.
This transfer window appears to be ending similar to the last-minute chaos in June. If we don't sign at least two players, it seems like our team will actually be weaker, especially after losing two talented young players.
Darren Eales is from Essex, so I wonder if he goes by the nickname 'Jellied'.
I notice that some Newcastle supporters are becoming overly emotional.
They must relax.
It's too soon to make any conclusions about the season with only two games played and four points earned out of six possible.
The team fought hard with only 10 players against Southampton, then had an okay performance on the road at Bournemouth. It wasn't a fantastic showing, but it wasn't terrible either. We had the most opportunities to score, but Bournemouth's goalkeeper was outstanding and made several impressive saves.
I don't quite comprehend why this season started off so poorly.
Responses on a postcard.
Some individuals are confused about the Minteh and Anderson sales, asking why the money wasn't used for new signings instead.
These sales were necessary to avoid selling a top player and were required to maintain financial stability after purchasing players like Bruno, Isak, Tonali, Botman, Livramento, Pope, Trippier, Willock, Barnes, Hall, Burn, Targett and Gordon during the three-year period of PSR (1 July 2021 to 30 June 2024).
