The group from Britain, with Chris Martin as the frontman, performed on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday (29 June). This was the night after Dua Lipa wowed the audience with her own headline performance, despite some technical difficulties during the BBC broadcast.

Coldplay last performed at the festival in 2016, marking their fourth time as the main act. This year, they will be headlining for their fifth time, making them the act with the most headlining appearances.

To celebrate the event, Coldplay asked for assistance from well-known celebrities. Martin and his band members performed alongside Spanish-American singer-songwriter Victoria Canal, who contributed vocals to “Paradise”. They also shared a sneak peek of their new collaboration with Little Simz and Burna Boy called “And So We Pray”.

Little Simz, who had performed on the Pyramid Stage just a few hours earlier, was in attendance for the show. Also present were Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna and the Bolton String Orchestra. Burna Boy made a special appearance via video footage while they were performing.

The track will appear on Coldplay's upcoming 10th album, Moon Music, set to be released on October 4th.

Right after that, Elyanna sang Coldplay's 2019 song "Arabesque" with the band and Femi Kuti, and Laura Mvula took charge of a performance of the 2008 song "Violet Hill".

At the end of their performance, Back to the Future star Michael J Fox made a surprise appearance to play with them on the final two songs: "Humankind" and "Fix You".

Coldplay had many famous people watching from the special area: Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg, who act together in the Mission: Impossible movies, were there - and in a video shared by The Independent, the two of them could be seen singing along to Oasis's "Don't Look Back in Anger" with the rest of the audience before the show.

Gillian Anderson also made an appearance.

Additional famous acts who have performed at the festival include Cyndi Lauper, the determined rock band The Last Dinner Party, and the 2000s pop group Sugababes, who delivered a standout performance despite the overcrowded venue.

Coldplay performed at Glastonbury for the first time in 1999 in the New Bands Tent, and later went on to be top billing at the festival in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016.

Their show overlapped with Disclosure on the Other Stage, Jessie Ware on the West Holts stage, and Gossip on the Woodsies stage.

During the weekend, a diverse group of performers will take the stage at the large festival grounds. However, Emily Eavis, the event organizer, has made it clear that there won't be any major surprises. Check out the complete lineup and schedule for Glastonbury 2024 below.

One of the standout moments of Friday was the performance by Sugababes on the West Holts stage. Their set drew such a massive crowd that there were reports of fans passing out and security had to stop more people from entering to prevent overcrowding.

Closing out the festival on Sunday, June 30th will be SZA.
