Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has announced that Dame Judi Dench and John Cena will be among the voice choices for its AI chatbot.

Users will have the opportunity to access information from AI representations of Awkwafina, Keegan Michael Key, or Kristen Bell.

The head of the tech giant, Mark Zuckerberg, shared the news at the company's yearly Connect conference.

During the event, Mr. Zuckerberg introduced the initial functioning model of Meta's augmented-reality (AR) glasses, named Orion.

When discussing the advancements in Meta AI, Mr. Zuckerberg mentioned, “I believe that using voice will be a much more intuitive method of engaging with AI compared to typing.”

Another recent addition to the features of the ChatGPT-like chatbot is its ability to identify objects in photos and provide users with information about them.

A photo editing tool will enable users to modify images simply by describing the desired changes to the Meta AI.

The company reported that over 400 million users are engaging with Meta AI each month, and out of those, 185 million are coming back on a weekly basis.

Demonstrating the Orion glasses, Mr. Zuckerberg remarked, “Many people have described this as the most incredible technology they've ever encountered.”

Users can engage with Orion using hand gestures, voice commands, and a wrist-mounted interface.

Meta has introduced a budget-friendly option in its Quest range of mixed-reality headsets. The new Quest 3S will begin at a price of $300 (£225).

Several of the largest tech companies globally have been working on augmented reality glasses, but they have yet to release popular products for the mass market.

In the past few years, Meta has invested a significant amount of money into advancing AI, augmented reality, and various technologies related to the metaverse.

The company anticipates investing up to $40 billion in new initiatives this year, marking an all-time high.

Before the event, Meta's stock closed on Wednesday at an all-time high of $568.31.

The firm, which also controls social media sites like Facebook and WhatsApp, has experienced an increase of over 60% in its market value since the beginning of the year.
