Chelsea are nearing the completion of a deal to sign young Barcelona player Marc Guiu, as reported by sources in Spain.

The young 18-year-old forward successfully made his way into the first team during the 2023-24 season and managed to score two goals in seven games in all competitions.

Yet, it appears that the forward has likely completed his final game with the Barcelona team because he is close to signing with Chelsea, according to Marca.

The Blues have activated Guiu's £5 million release clause and outbid Bayern Munich to sign the player.

The blog post also mentions that Hansi Flick's team sees Guiu as a player with a lot of promise and tried to negotiate a new contract with him. However, they were not able to come to an agreement before Chelsea swooped in and presented him with an irresistible offer.

Chelsea are nearing the completion of a deal to bring in Barcelona's young talent Marc Guiu, as stated in various reports.

The 18-year-old player made a goal with his second touch in his first game as a professional player against Athletic Bilbao.

The new manager of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, has reportedly had multiple conversations with Guiu and plans to promote the young player to the first team in the upcoming season.

Guiu is drawn to the project that Chelsea has with their young players and he thinks that the Premier League is a good fit for his style of playing.

He played his first official game for Barcelona under coach Xavi against Athletic Bilbao in October of last year. He scored a goal on only his second attempt, helping the team secure a 1-0 victory.

Speaking about Guiu's quick influence, Xavi expressed: "Marc, a young person from the area, has a positive impact on our team."

I've been thinking about him because he's driven and passionate, and I personally enjoy his company. I have no issues with keeping an eye on him at the academy. In fact, I'm happy to provide the same support and confidence that was given to me when I was his age.

The word on the street is that Enzo Maresca, the new manager of Chelsea, plans to include Guiu in the starting lineup for the upcoming season.

I am amazed that they are not afraid. I notice a glimmer in their eyes. They give me a confident look, as if to say, "Go ahead, give me a chance, and you'll see that everything will turn out fine."

I witnessed it with Gavi, Balde, Lamine, Fermin, and Marc. He appeared to be unafraid.
