Simon Cowell walks Lucy Spraggan down the aisle at venue 25 miles from York

Music producer Simon Cowell expressed feeling sentimental and anxious as he escorted Lucy Spraggan, a previous X Factor participant, down the aisle.

Lucy, a 32-year-old musician, tied the knot with her partner, Emilia Smith, who works as a wedding photographer. The couple said "I do" at Saltmarshe Hall, a beautiful country estate located near Howden.

The couple got married at the beginning of this month following their engagement announcement in March.

In an interview with Hello magazine, Cowell, the well-known TV star from The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, expressed his gratitude for being chosen to accompany Lucy as she walked down the aisle.

I thought it was really important. When she asked me, I immediately agreed.

I was feeling anxious on that day because no one had ever asked me before. But then I felt proud, happy, and emotional.

Our bond feels like it has been there forever, like we've been lifelong friends.

When I was requested to escort her down the aisle, I understood the gravity and value of that responsibility.

"During the day, I couldn't help but reflect on how even though we haven't known each other for very long, we already feel like a close-knit family with a unique connection."

Talking about the event, Spraggan told Hello magazine: "Simon and I were waiting at the entrance when my song began to play."

I was already shedding tears, and Simon was visibly emotional too.

I had my arm intertwined with his, but suddenly I noticed I was actually grasping onto his arm.

"He continued to reassure me by saying, 'You're fine, everything is going to be okay.' But when Emilia entered the room with her father, I couldn't help but burst into tears."

Spraggan donned a white suit with three matching pieces for the event. In pictures from the day, she is visible wiping away a tear as she clasps onto Cowell's arm.

Spraggan told Fabulous Magazine in March that she had requested for Cowell to walk her down the aisle while she was residing with him and his partner, Lauren Silverman.

Spraggan shared that a sorry from the 64-year-old helped her start to heal after she was sexually assaulted over ten years ago. This revelation was detailed in her book Process: Discovering My Path.

Spraggan revealed that she was sexually assaulted in her hotel room while filming The X Factor. The attacker, who used a keycard that could be traced back to him, admitted to the crime and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The apology from the music mogul came following her letter to the big companies involved with The X Factor – ITV, Fremantle, and Syco, which is Cowell's company. In the letter, she described her experience back in 2012.

Spraggan was once wedded to Georgina Gordon until she revealed in November 2019 that they had separated following three years of being married.

The famous singer dropped her newest song, "Other Sides Of The Moon," dedicated to her spouse on their nuptials. She is set to perform at Glastonbury Festival's Avalon Stage on June 29th.
