‘You are witnessing greatness’ – Little Simz wows Glastonbury with fluid rhymes

Little Simz

Little Simz impressed the crowd at Glastonbury with her solo performance, showcasing her talent without the support of a live band or backup singers for most of her songs. She mainly relied on the skills of a DJ to accompany her during her set.

The 30-year-old rapper from Britain effortlessly delivered rhymes while performing songs from her award-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and her newest studio album No Thank You on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday.

Wearing a leather jacket with "Little Simz" on it and a flowing skirt, she started her performance by singing her song Silhouette from her album No Thank You, confidently walking across the stage by herself.

She also sang No Merci and I Love You, I Hate You by herself before informing the audience that they "must realize that they are witnessing true greatness".

Little Simz said: "I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying it with belief in myself, belief in my worth and value."

It took me some time to reach the Pyramid stage, but I'm finally here! If I do well, that means you do well too.

Since we all desire to witness someone encountering something truly enchanting tonight, it is a privilege to have you in our presence.

"I only have one thing on my mind and that is my heart is burning with passion."

Next, she effortlessly performed her song Heart On Fire and announced to the audience that she was thoroughly enjoying herself on stage before surprising them with a special preview of her new music.

During her performance of her new song The Code, a dancer wearing red clothes moved in the background as Little Simz rapped about the "ghetto" and stilettos. She also talked about how she can overcome obstacles and keep achieving success.

Afterwards, Little Simz was additionally accompanied by dancers donning helmets, as well as Nigerian musician Obongjayar, for their performance of the track Point And Kill.

Then she was supported by a band during her performance of Selfish. The audience was clapping and singing along with the song.

Little Simz also informed the festival that she would be performing one last track, Gorilla.

She also expressed gratitude to the audience, saying, "I truly appreciate that this has become one of the most memorable moments of my career and my life."

Congrats to Little Simz from fellow rapper Wretch 32. He praised her as a talented artist, saying she is truly world-class.

The hip-hop artist, whose real name is Simbiatu Ajikawo, took home the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2022 and also snagged the title of Best New Artist at the Brit Awards in the same year.
