Scholes: Mainoo can knit England together

Kobbie Mainoo

Today is Tuesday, 25th June 2024, and it's currently 10:30 in the morning.

Paul Scholes is supporting the young Manchester United player Kobbie Mainoo to enhance England's midfield during the Euro 2024 tournament.

The England national team is back in action tonight, feeling confident because they have already secured a spot in the next round. Results from other matches have ensured that they will advance to the knockout stage, possibly as one of the top third-place teams.

Before their match against Slovenia in Cologne, England manager Gareth Southgate has suggested that he may make some changes to the midfield lineup.

Scholes thinks that Mainoo is the ideal person to help England figure out their current problem, and he predicts that Mainoo will start right from the beginning.

"Of course, I mentioned that I would prefer Mainoo to join the midfield," Scholes informed TNT Sports.

I believe that he is, along with Declan Rice, likely one of the top midfielders for England.

Having a player like Alexander-Arnold take your spot as a right back when you're used to playing as a central midfielder would be tough to accept.

I believe Kobbie Mainoo will be a key player in the England squad and team for at least the next decade.

"He will enhance the quality of the midfield, which has been missing. He is familiar with the role and has experience playing in that position."

"He will support Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham and has the potential to bring everything together smoothly."

Kobbie has only been able to play for eight minutes at Euro 2024. He came on as a substitute towards the end of the Three Lions' first match, a 1-0 win against Serbia on 16 June.

Luke Shaw, a member of the same team as me, is getting closer to coming back. He was seen training with the team at England's training camp in Blankenhain yesterday.

The player, who is 28 years old, was unable to play at the end of our 2023/24 season due to a calf injury. However, he is looking forward to making a contribution as Southgate's team aims for success this summer.
