Thiago Motta's Juventus team lost for the first time this season when they tied with AS Roma 0-0 in Serie A on Sunday.

Following two consecutive 3-0 wins over Como and Hellas Verona, Juventus is now in second place in the league, tied on seven points with Inter Milan, Torino, and Udinese.

No other team in the highest Italian league had as many points as they did after the last round of matches.

Both teams ignited the match with early energy but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, resulting in a lack of clear scoring opportunities.

The best chance came right before halftime, when Juventus player Dusan Vlahovic took a shot from close to the penalty area, but Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar made a great save to stop the goal.

Juve only managed to get one shot on goal during the entire game, while Roma put up a strong defense against the home team.

Motta attempted to change things up during half-time by making two offensive substitutions, bringing in new signing Teun Koopmeiners for his first appearance alongside forward Francisco Conceição.

Manager Daniele De Rossi, of Roma, decided to make some changes to the lineup around the 60th minute. He brought in forward Paulo Dybala for midfielder Matìas Soulè, and Nicola Zalewski replaced Alexis Saelemaekers.

However, the conflict became more intense in the final moments, as both teams aggressively searched for a game-winning goal.

Angeliño took a shot from far away that missed the target for Roma, while Juve's Kenan Yildiz's shot went over the crossbar in the final minutes of the game.

Roma is no longer in danger of being relegated to a lower league after earning two points. They drew without scoring any goals against Cagliari and then lost 2-1 at home to Empoli last week. They now sit in 17th place in the standings.

They were unable to secure victories in their initial three Serie A matches for the second consecutive season, a rare feat that has only occurred once before in the club's history back in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.

Juventus will play against Empoli after the break for national teams and then face PSV Eindhoven on September 17 in their first Champions League match after being away for a year.

Roma will face Genoa, who are currently in 10th place, in their upcoming match.
