Bologna 3-3 Juventus: Hosts throw away three-goal lead as Juve claim unlikely draw in Serie A - Eurosport

Juventus

Juventus are still in the running to secure third place in the Serie A league standings. They achieved this by an impressive comeback performance by bouncing back from a 3-0 deficit to salvage a 3-3 tie against their rivals Bologna at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium.

Thiago Motta's team, Rossoblu, started the game off very well and were able to score two goals within the first 11 minutes. The goals were made by Riccardo Calafiori and Santiago Castro, who was playing for the first time.

After the break, the guests demonstrated some resistance for a short period. However, they were unable to prevent the opponents from scoring another goal at the 53rd minute mark. Calafiori made an impressive move forward and concluded it with a skilful, delicate finish to score his second goal of the night.

Juventus appeared to be on the verge of a major defeat, but an incredible scoring outburst in just eight minutes towards the end of the game turned things around. Federico Chiesa, along with substitutes Arkadiusz Milik and Kenan Yildiz, managed to salvage a tie between the two teams.

After the match, Bologna maintained their position in third place, with one game remaining, securing the spot ahead of Juventus by a mere difference in goal count.

The city of Bologna is about to conclude an exciting season, in which they managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for only the second time in their entire history. They will be playing their last match against Genoa on Sunday. Meanwhile, Juventus is set to host Monza.

Motta's Audition: A Talking Point?

Bologna, an unexpected team in Serie A this season, dominated Juventus for 70 minutes. They showed off Thiago Motta's impressive coaching skills, while Juve struggled to match their energy.

He was rumored to be in consideration for the open position as head coach for Juventus, and some thought this could be a chance for him to showcase his skills. He did impress in many ways, but his decision to substitute important players towards the end of the game ended up hurting him. This was a valuable lesson for both him and his team, as it showed the dangers of giving top-tier opponents even the slightest chance (especially with the possibility of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season).

The Rossoblu were unable to secure their first victory over The Bianconeri since 2011, as it was snatched away from them. Although, this saved Juve from facing even more challenging criticism, they have only won one match in their previous 16 Serie A games.

Riccardo Calafiori: Player Of The Match

The man who is 22 years old rewarded himself with a gift for his birthday that he had missed out on, by scoring two amazing goals during the weekend. This is additional proof of how he is growing into one of the top centre-backs in the league. He is a fantastic example of how Motta is having a positive impact on the team, because he is able to combine solid defense with some impressive plays when moving forward. His departure from the game after 70 minutes was not the cause of the team’s unfortunate downfall, which occurred after he had left.

The football team from Bologna recently played a game and the players' performances were ranked by experts. In the 53rd minute, Bologna scores a goal against Juventus to make the score 3-0. Calafiori, the centre back, scores his second goal of the game. He quickly rushes towards the opposition's goal from an unexpected position and takes advantage of a loose ball by delicately chipping it over the keeper for a fantastic finish.

In the 76th minute, Chiesa scores a goal for Juventus against Bologna, bringing the score to 3-1. Lucumí's over-confidence caused him to make a mistake, allowing Chiesa to steal the ball and then shoot it past Skorupski into the goal.
