After Wright had hosted the show, Ball took over and had to decide what to do when he was given the opportunity to keep Love Songs going, which Wright had originally started. Ball spoke about struggling with this decision.

Ball announced that during his premiere Love Songs performance on Sunday, June 2nd, he plans to honor Wright by featuring Wichita Lineman as the finale.
According to him, the music taste of the person in question was superb and he was also a morally upright individual.
