(Gray News) - John Cena is stepping away from WWE.

This past Saturday at WWE's Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Cena shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from wrestling.

"Why am I still here? Today, I am officially declaring my retirement from the WWE," he stated.

Cena will continue to take part in various events next year such as Monday Night Raw on Netflix, the 2025 Royal Rumble, and the 2025 Elimination Chamber.

John Cena announced that his final WrestleMania appearance will take place in Las Vegas in 2025.

"Thank you for allowing me to reside in the home you constructed over many years," he expressed his gratitude.

WWE posted a video of Cena’s retirement message on X, which was once called Twitter.

During a public event, Cena announced that a goodbye tour is set to begin in January and will continue until December.

Cena joined WWE in 2001.
