John Cena announces WWE retirement

(Grey News) - John Cena is stepping away from WWE for the time being.

At WWE's Money in the Bank event in Toronto on Saturday, Cena shocked everyone by revealing that he is retiring from wrestling in the ring.

"Why am I present at this moment? Tonight, I am formally declaring my retirement from the WWE," he stated.

Cena will continue to compete in various events next year, such as Monday Night Raw on Netflix, the 2025 Royal Rumble, and the 2025 Elimination Chamber.

John Cena announced that he will be having his final WrestleMania match in Las Vegas in 2025.

"Many thanks for allowing me to enjoy the home you have carefully constructed over the years," he expressed his gratitude.

WWE posted a video of Cena's retirement announcement on X, which was previously called Twitter.

During a media briefing, Cena announced that a farewell tour is set to begin in January and continue until December.

John Cena agreed to join WWE in 2001.
