Jeremy Clarkson has had a heart procedure following a sudden decline in his health.

The host of Clarkson's Farm, who recently ended his professional relationship with his Grand Tour co-stars Richard Hammond and James May, revealed that a doctor informed him he was "possibly" just a few days from death.

Clarkson initially faced difficulties while swimming from a boat to the shore during a vacation on a small island. He described the distance as not very long—about the equivalent of two swimming pools. However, when he finally made it to the beach, he felt like he had inhaled an excessive amount of water, saying it felt like there was more in his lungs than what's found in Lake Superior, and he felt completely drained.

His concerns grew when he found it difficult to climb the stairs without needing someone to assist him. He shared with The Sunday Times, "I'm not making this up. All these issues appeared on the same day."

He came back to the UK and, after experiencing a tight sensation in his chest and tingling in his left arm, he was quickly taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Clarkson expressed that the rapid decline, which seemed to be picking up speed, deeply worried him following Alex Salmond's recent passing due to a heart attack.

After undergoing multiple tests, including an electrocardiogram (ECG), the presenter learned that he was not experiencing a heart attack. However, the doctors cautioned him that he might only have a few days left to live.

Clarkson described it this way: "It feels like one of the arteries supplying blood to my heart was entirely blocked, and a second one out of three was on the verge of becoming blocked as well."

He created an opening in my wrist, inserted his Dyno-Rod tools, and started examining things more closely. The key concern was whether my arteries were damaged enough to require an emergency heart bypass. Alternatively, could he use his Dyno-Rods along with some ultrasonic tools to clear up the blockages before placing a stent?

Clarkson mentioned that fortunately, the doctor was able to place a stent, describing the experience as “not really painful – just a bit strange.”

The speaker reflected on the frightening situation, thinking to himself, "Wow, that was a close call."

Last month, Clarkson, Hammond, and May wrapped up their show, The Grand Tour, on Prime Video.

Clarkson remains the host of Clarkson’s Farm, where he showcases his experiences managing a farm in Oxfordshire, available on Prime Video. He also continues to present Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? on ITV.

He just launched a pub named The Farmer's Dog in Asthall, which is near Burford and not far from his home near Chipping Norton.
