Jeremy Clarkson has heart procedure after 'sudden deterioration' in health

Jeremy Clarkson has shared that he had a heart procedure following a rapid decline in his health.

The 64-year-old reported that a swim during his vacation seemed to make it hard for him to go up and down stairs, and his symptoms got worse once he came back to the UK.

Clarkson shared with The Sunday Times that he experienced feelings of being "clammy," along with a "tight sensation in my chest" and "tingling in my left arm."

The ex-Top Gear presenter mentioned that he visited his doctor after learning about Alex Salmond's unexpected passing last weekend.

He was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by ambulance, but various tests, including an electrocardiogram (ECG), confirmed that he did not have a heart attack.

Clarkson mentioned that the doctors thought he might be just "days away" from experiencing a serious illness.

He explained to The Sunday Times that one of the arteries supplying blood to his heart was fully blocked, and another of the three was also on the verge of becoming blocked.

A small device called a stent, which helps keep an artery open, was placed in approximately two hours.

Clarkson mentioned that the episode made him reflect, "Wow, that was nearly a disaster."

He mentioned that he's considering switching to a healthier diet and is curious about what water actually tastes like. He also wonders if there's a way to make celery more exciting.

This isn't the first time the presenter has faced a health issue.

Seven years ago, Clarkson gave up smoking, which had become a part of his daily routine with 40 cigarettes. In a column for The Sun last year, he shared that a doctor had pointed out an alarming increase in his blood pressure, which he attributed to using nicotine gum.

The last episode of the star's Grand Tour series was broadcasted last month; however, he is still hosting Clarkson's Farm and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

He has also recently launched a pub named The Farmer's Dog in Oxfordshire, which is situated close to his home in Chipping Norton.
