Authorities in Spain announced on Monday that they have discovered human remains in the same location where the 19-year-old went missing on the morning of June 17th.

The police strongly believed that the remains belonged to the teenager from Lancashire based on the evidence found, including his clothes and belongings nearby.

Officials stated that DNA testing will be conducted to determine the individual's identity, as well as an autopsy to determine the reason for their death, according to the police.

A representative of the Spanish police stated: "It seems likely that the individual in question is the young man from Britain who has been missing for almost a month."

"He may have passed away from a fall in a difficult-to-reach area where he was discovered. We are waiting for the autopsy results to verify that this was indeed an accident."

The Spanish officials found the body and mentioned that even though they officially stopped the search after 13 days, they secretly kept looking in a persistent manner. They made sure to protect the natural area so that it wouldn't be crowded with curious people.

Even though the family of Mr. Slater has not made any statements about the finding, a charity that they have been collaborating with mentioned that they are assisting the family during this difficult period.

On Monday afternoon, LBT Global sadly announced that a body discovered in Tenerife appears to be Jay Slater. The body was located near where his mobile phone was last tracked.

Even though they have not officially confirmed the person's identity, they discovered the body with Mr. Slater’s belongings and attire. There will be further examination and investigations to determine the cause of death.

Mr. Slater was recently in touch on Monday 17 June, as he informed a friend that he intended to walk to his accommodation after he missed a bus. The walk was estimated to take approximately 11 hours.

He went on a trip with his friends to the popular tourist destination to go to the music festival NRG. It was the first time he had gone on vacation without his family.

This past Sunday, Lucy Law, a friend of Mr. Slater, informed the Manchester Evening News that she had departed the festival early. Meanwhile, Mr. Slater continued his night out by heading to a nightclub located in Playa de las Americas.

Afterward, he journeyed to an Airbnb located in the isolated Masca valley alongside two individuals, with one being identified as Briton Ayub Qassim. However, they departed from their lodging around 8am to return home.

The young bricklayer in training from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was spotted by a café owner who mentioned that the teen had inquired about the bus schedule before opting not to wait for two hours for the next bus.

After that, she noticed him leave the town, and his phone was recently tracked in the Rural de Teno national park.

A desperate hunt began for Mr. Slater when he went missing, with police, mountain rescue teams, and volunteers searching the rugged landscape for a fortnight.

Even though the formal search was ended, his devastated family promised to continue looking for him and condemned the local authorities and community members for not putting in more effort to find their son.

During this period, Debbie Duncan, his mother, expressed: "After nearly four weeks since Jay went missing, we are experiencing indescribable pain as a family.

"Jay is a regular young guy who enjoys life and has a promising future ahead of him. This month, he will complete his three-year apprenticeship, opening up endless possibilities. He is well-liked by all, and has strong relationships with his family and a large circle of friends."

We want to acknowledge that we are aware of the negative comments and conspiracy theories circulating on social media. These harmful theories are impeding the efforts of those assisting in the investigations here in Tenerife and are distressing for our family to witness.
