Town skipper wins fans’ player of the year award
Sam Morsy, the captain of Ipswich Town, received the most votes and was awarded the Men's Player of the Year by the ITFC Supporters Club. Kieran McKenna, the manager, praised Morsy, saying he earned the title.
Morsy received the prize on the field after Ipswich Town's 1-1 tie with his previous team, Middlesbrough, at Portman Road yesterday.
The Egypt football player, who is 32 years old, has initiated 39 of the 41 matches in Sky Bet Championship for Town team. He was absent for three of the games because of his suspension. This player has achieved three goals so far, which helps McKenna's group to compete for the championship in their opening season following their promotion.
The head of the Town team, who received the Irene Davey Patron Award (an award named after a supporter of the club who recently passed away), declared that his captain was rightfully awarded the Harwich Rosebowl trophy.
"He has shown remarkable consistency. In my opinion, he is a deserving winner," he expressed.
There are numerous boys who have performed admirably, but I believe that Samy has once again exhibited exceptional leadership both on the field and during training.
In addition, his performances are of high quality and he demonstrates control over games whether he has possession of the ball or not. He pays attention to the little details in his game, which were absent two years ago, and has dedicated a lot of effort to improve them. He is also in excellent physical condition and has been able to play in many consecutive games, including the past five 90-minute games. This is an indication of his hard work and it is well deserved.
Wes Burns has been crowned the victor of the freshly instituted Portman Road Moment of the Season prize due to his impressive outside-foot strike against Coventry City. The Welsh player's goal was the product of an exquisite collective effort, and it ultimately ensured a 2-1 triumph over the Sky Blues.
Jeremy Sarmiento was recognized with The Unforgettable Moment for his amazing 97th-minute goal that led his team, Brighton & Hove Albion, to victory against their competing team, Southampton, during the Easter Monday match. Playing on loan, he managed to score the winner goal, which was truly unforgettable.
Before the game, Sophie Peskett was awarded the title of Women's Player of the Year, and Finley Barbrook, who is the Under-21s captain, received the Academy Player of the Year award.
