Ipswich Town transfer news: Chiedozie Ogbene on move from Luton

Ipswich Town

Winger Chiedozie Ogbene expressed that joining Ipswich Town was a chance he couldn't pass up.

The 27-year-old player has signed a contract with Ipswich Town for four years, coming from Luton Town. The transfer fee was £8 million.

Ogbene recently joined the Luton team from Rotherham without any cost last year. He managed to score five goals in a total of 39 games in various competitions.

He had a strong performance in the league last season even though Luton got relegated. He was the second fastest player in the top division, after Tottenham's Micky van de Ven, reaching a speed of 36.93kph against Fulham in September.

The player from Ireland has joined Portman Road, making him the 10th player to sign with the club since they were promoted to the Premier League after more than two decades. With this signing, the club's total spending has now reached almost £100m.

"I am thrilled and grateful for the chance to play in the Premier League once more," Ogbene shared with the club's media.

I've had some really great conversations with the manager, and it means a lot to me and my family that they believe in my ability to play at this level again.

I am aware of his expectations for me and the part I will have on the team. I am here to contribute positively to the group as we strive to reach our objectives.

This is a chance I couldn't pass up and I'm eager to participate as soon as I can.
